Annie Get Your Gun continues tonight through Sunday at Peoria Players. Revived on Broadway in 1999, it's the story of Annie Oakley who gets her big break into show business with her rifle markmanship. The 2009 IHSA Chess Tournament will be held in the Peoria Civic Center Exhibit Hall and Ballroom this weekend. Times are 10 am - 8 pm on Friday and 9 am - 5 pm on Saturday. Admission is free for spectators. Grandmaster Yury Shulman, the 2008 U.S. Open Champion, will be in attendance on Saturday. He will observe games, mingle with students and give demonstrations in the practice area.

On Friday, the Venue will host musician Denise LaGrassa from 7 - 10 pm. Admission is $5 per person. Comedian Robert Schimmel will perform at the Jukebox Comedy Club on Friday at 8 & 10:30 pm. He lost his 11 year-old son to leukemia, married and divorced the same woman three times, and battled, and for the time being, has beat cancer.
