Comedian Alex Ortiz will perform at the Jukebox Comedy Club tonight at 8 pm and 10:30 pm. Funny Valentines continues tonight at the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield. The show is a charming romantic comedy of boy marries girl...boy and girl divorce...and boy is desperate to get girl back. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, doors open at 6 pm, buffet is at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 8 pm. The Eureka College theater department's production of Top Girls by Caryl Churchill, which explores whether it is possible for women to combine a successful career with a thriving family life, will be staged at 7:30 pm Friday and Saturday in Pritchard Theatre. Carnivale 2009, a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Greater Illinois Chapter, is Friday from 6 pm to Midnight at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria. Tickets are $75 per person, $50 of which is tax deductible. A French Quarter style menu featuring traditional Louisiana fare will be served, as well as a complimentary wine menu. Carl Anderson's New Orleans Jazz Band and Jammsammich will perform. Opening on Friday evening and running through Sunday, the Corn Stock Theatre's Winter Lab Theatre presents Moonlight & Magnolias: a fanciful retelling of the problems surrounding the production of the movie version of the great American novel, Gone with the Wind.  Performances begin at 7:30 pm, except on Sunday, which begins at 2:30 pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students 18 & under and are on sale at the Corn Stock Theatre Box Office or by calling 676-2196.

The Illinois Wesleyan University Civic Orchestra presents its annual Concerto-Aria Concert at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts on Friday evening at 7:30 pm.  The orchestra, made up of current Illinois Wesleyan University students, will also showcase four student solo performances accompanied by the orchestra under the direction of Steven W. Also on Saturday, Peoria Players Theatre presents their first in a series of Singalong nights with their High School Musical Singalong beginning at 7 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. The Bradley University Symphonic Winds, conducted by Dr. David Vroman, will present a costumed, turn-of-the-century park concert in Dingeldine Music Center at 3 pm. The concert will be presented in the same style that John Philip Sousa used to entertain large audiences and which made him a household name throughout the United States. A pre-concert lecture featuring stories of the Sousa band on tour will be given at 2:15 pm by Lee Ranson of television station WEEK-TV.
