Cloud Nine opens tonight at Bradley's Hartmann Theatre. It's a hilarious look at racial, sexual, and personal repression, the show is truly international hit and is one of the most significant plays of the last quarter of the 20th century. The Peoria Park District's Proctor Recreation Center will celebrate black history month on tonight from 6 - 7:30pm with the John H. Gwynn Jr. Black History Celebration. There will be displays dedicated to black artists, authors, singers, role models and more, as well as tables devoted to health solutions, voter registration and the NAACP. This is a free event: there will be food, giveaways, and entertainment throughout the evening. Proctor Recreation Center is an official Safe Haven Site for Peoria's community.
