The regional premiere of Unncessary Farce opens tonight at the Barn II Dinner Theare.  On Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, doors open at 6 pm, buffet is at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 8 pm. On Sundays, doors & the buffet open at noon, and the show is at 1:30 pm. Prices are $30 for Thursdays, $32 for Fridays and Sunday brunch and $34 for Saturdays. The Illinois Shakespeare Festival continues this weekend with a presentation of A Midsummers Night's Dream tonight at Ewing Manor in Bloomington beginning at 7:30 pm and Saturday night at 8 pm. Scapin will be performed Friday evening at 8 pm.  Richard the Third runs Sunday beginning at 7:30 pm.  There is also a free family-friendly version of Shakespeare's The Tempest on Saturday beginning at 10 am in the festival courtyard (bring lawn chairs for seating).  This show lasts 45 minutes and is geared toward children 9 years and older.  Although the show is free, reservations are required:  call 309-438-3334 or send an email to make your reservation. Tickets for the evening shows range in price from $16 to $40 and are available online at Ticketmaster.com. Dancing Under the Stars also takes place tonight at the Glen Oak Amphitheatre.  Brush up on your ballroom and the country line dancing on Peoria's only outdoor dance floor featuring big band and country music. Dancing begins at 7 pm and admission is free.  This week will feature Nancy West & the Collegues.

The 2009 edition of the annual CEFCU Jazz Series continues tonight on the RiverFront. Don't miss the Billy Cook Quintet performance at the CEFCU Center Stage at The Landing from 7:30 - 9:30 pm. The Landing bar will be open to serve beverages.  Admission is free.

The USA Roller Sports 2009 Speed Skating National Championship continues this weekend at the Peoria Civic Center. Tickets are are $10 and are available at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office. Children 7 and under are free. For a detailed schedule of each day's events, click HERE.

Also tonight, the Peoria Chiefs take on the Lansing Lugnuts beginning at 7 pm at O'Brien Field.  The Chiefs will play the Lugnuts again Friday at 6:30 pm.  The Chiefs will face the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Saturday at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 for Club Box, $9 for Box or $6 for Lawn and are available at the O'Brien Field box office, by phone at 866-698-4253 or online HERE.

On Friday, the Peoria Municipal Band Mini Band will perform beginning at 7:30 pm at the Shoppes at Grand Prairie. The Band will also perform Sunday beginning at 7:30 pm at the Glen Oak Amphitheatre.The band is conducted by David Vroman.

Doran & the Soul Mystics (soul, Motown) performs at the Contemporary Art Center 's Live at the Five Spot Friday night from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Tickets are $7 for members and $10 for non-members. For more information on either event, call 674-6822.

The annual Ham 'n Jam Fundraiser benefitting Crusaders for Kids which provides money for sick kids in the central Illinois area.  The event will be held at Expo Gardens with gates opening at 6 pm on Friday and 4 pm on Saturday.  Tickets for Friday are $10 at the gate only.  Tickets for Saturday are $25 at the gate or $20 in advance at all Coop Records locations.  Headlining band on Saturday night is 38 Special.  There is also a motorcycle ride on Saturday with sign up from 9 am - 1 pm at Hooter's downtown.  Tickets for this are $20 and include the ride, concert admission, dinner and a t-shirt for the first 1,000 riders.  For more information including a listing of all the bands performing, go to Crusaders for Kids.

Hairbangers Ball, a tribute band for "The Decade of Decadence", is ready to rock the RiverFront complete with monster hair, tattoos and leopard print spandex. The show will be held at the CEFCU Center Stage at The Landing on the Peoria RiverFront beginning at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $7 per person.  The Landing bar will be open to serve beverages.

The Metamora Community Band will perform Friday as a part of the Summer Concerts in the Park series from 7:30 - 9 pm at the Metamora Park on the Square. Bring lawn chairs.

 

 Todd Yohn has been one of the Jukebox's favorite performers for 7 years and a friend of the "Bob and Tom Show" for much longer. In fact, Tom Griswald of "Bob and Tom" called Todd Yohn "by far the funniest live comedian show anyone will ever see". He is one of their "legends", delivering a non-stop mix of "silly and dirty" stand-up, improv, and music such as his comedy classic "Orange Barrels". On Saturday, Pekin Main Street anticipates over 800 antique and classic cars, trucks and bikes for their 5th annual Super Cruise from 3 - 9 pm along Court Street and around the Courthouse Square in historic downtown Pekin. Over eight downtown blocks will be closed and reserved for the display cars.  A live band stage will be located on Court Street. On Saturday, the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Dinner Benefit to raise money for the Family House, which provides affordable housing for families of patients in Peoria-area hospitals, will be held at the church.
