The USA Roller Sports 2009 Figure Skating National Championship will be held in the Peoria Civic Center Arena this weekend. Tickets are $10 and are available at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office. Children 7 and under are free. For a detailed schedule of each day's events, click HERE.
Public roller skating will held in the Civic Center Arena on Saturday from 7:30 - 9:30 pm as part of the USA Roller Sports Championship. Tickets are $10 and available at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office. Peoria Palace Skating Rink will have skates available for patrons to rent. Quads will be $3 and inline skates will be $4. Patrons may also bring their own skates. |

The Illinois Shakespeare Festival
continues this weekend with a presentation of A Midsummers Night's Dream tonight and Sunday at Ewing Manor in Bloomington beginning at 7:30 pm on both nights. Scapin will be performed Friday at 8 pm and Richard the Third runs Saturday beginning at 8 pm. There is also a free family-friendly version of Shakespeare's The Tempest on Saturday beginning at 10 am in the festival courtyard (bring lawn chairs for seating). This show lasts 45 minutes and is geared toward children 9 years and older. Although the show is free, reservations are required: call 390-438-3334 or send an

J Scott Homan will perform at the Jukebox Comedy Club this weekend. He has performed on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," Showtime and CMT plus the "Bob and Tom Show" and Chicago's "Mancow." Showtimes are Thursday at 8 pm (following the first round of their 8th annual amateur tournament) and Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and 10:30 pm. Dream Center Peoria will host the 8th annual Backpack Peoria event Saturday, which provides 3,500 backpacks full of school supplies to children in the community. St. Thomas Catholic Church, Peoria Heights Congregational Church, St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Creve Coeur Community Center and Dream Center Peoria will distribute the backpacks from 9am to noon. An Expo will also be held at the Dream Center showcasing Peoria-area organizations, not-for-profits and healthcare professionals.
