The Pekin Marigold Festival begins tonight and will run until Sunday, featuring entertainment and activities such as carnival rides, a parade, a bags tournament, a 5k run/walk, the marigold medallion hunt, a "top dog" pageant, a sand volleyball tournament, a wiffleball tournament, the Mineral Springs Kiddie Corral plus a food court.  For more information, including a complete event schedule, click to go to the City of Pekin website.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, presented by Youthlight at Eastlight Theatre, continues tonight, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for senior citizens 65+ and $10 for youth through high school and are available at the Eastlight Box Office, by calling 699-SHOW or online HERE.

Dale "Monkey Boy" Jones performs at Jukebox Comedy Club tonight at 8 p.m. following the "Pro-Am Showcase" and Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and 10:30 pm each night. Tickets are $13 or $12 with cash except for the Thursday show and the Friday late show which are $10 with cash. Rated-PG-18

Peoria Players presents South Pacific, the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical that won the Pulitzer Prize, 10 Tony Awards and includes the songs "Bali Ha'i", "Some Enchanted Evening", "Happy Talk" and "I'm in Love with a Wonderful Guy". The show opens Friday evening and will also run Saturday at 7:30 pm, on Sunday at 2:30 pm and continues next weekend. Tickets are $18 for adults or $12 for students 18 & under. Summer Serenades welcomes American English, the Beatles tribute band, beginning at 7 pm on Friday on the back lawn of Lakeview Museum. Admission is free. Food will be available also beginning at 6 pm. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Alcohol is not allowed.

Johnny Burnett returns to Peoria with the Johnny Burnett Trio at The Rhythm Kitchen Cafe on Friday night from 8 - 11 p.m.

The Eureka College theater department and Eureka College Women's Board will present the children's theater production of "Fairy Tales: The Royal Players of Prince Desmond" at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday and 2 pm Sunday in the Cerf Center. The Fiesta en el Rio Latin Festival runs Friday evening and will feature authentic Latin American food and drink, a children's area, cultural tent, and much more from 5:30 - 11 pm at the CEFCU Stage at the Landing on the Peoria Riverfront. Banda Rika will be the featured entertainment. Admission is $7 for adults and $20 for a family pass.

Wildlife Prairie State Park hosts Movie Under the Stars with Lady & the Tramp on Friday night. The fee is $12 per carload. Gates open at 7:15 pm and show time is at 8 pm. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

WorldFest 2009 is a cultural event created locally by the Peoria Civic Center Authority's Cultural Diversity Committee The event will be held in the Peoria Civic Center's Exhibit Hall on Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm and will feature live entertainment, ethnic food, cultural displays, and unique items for sale at the World Market booths. The 2009 Central Illinois Black Expo will be held on Saturday in the Peoria Civic Center Exhibit Hall from 11 am - 7 pm. Admission is free.

The 3rd Annual Small Wonders Miracle Walk and Silent Action benefiting the Children's Hospital of Illinois Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will take place on Saturday from 9 am - 12 pm. at the Riverplex Recreation Center. The Peoria Lumin-Essence event to benefit OSF Home Care Services' hospice program will be held on Saturday from 6 - 11 pm at WeaverRidge Golf Club and will feature cocktails, hors d' oeuvres and live music by the West MacQueen Street band. The Peoria Symphony Orchestra presents guest conductor Michael Butterman and featured soloist pianist Andrew Van Oeyen at the Peoria Civic Center Theater beginning at 8 pm on Saturday night. Tickets are $36-$72 and and are available by calling 671-1096 or at the Peoria Symphony website.

The Peoria Firefighters Local 50 will present the Fire on the Water Festival on the Peoria Riverfront on Saturday beginning at 4:30 pm.  The band Generations will perform from 5 - 6:30 pm, Stepdown will perform from 7-9 pm and the Boat Drunks will perform from 9:30 pm to midnight.  Admissio is $5 and beer, soft drinks & food will also be available for purchase.

The Run for Every Woman benefitting the Peoria YWCA is Saturday begining at 8 am at the Lakeview YWCA. There's also a kids fun walk plus a high school team challenge.  The registration fee is $25. Forms available at Lakeview Park YWCA and Dunham sports in Peoria. 

Manual High School's Centennial Banquet & Concert will be held at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday beginning with the banquet at 6 pm and concert at 8 pm and will feature world renowned jazz pianist Mark Adams with special guest jazz trumpeter Tom Browne. Catch the Peoria Mustangs Hockey game on Saturday night starting at 6:45 at Owens Center-admission is $5.

The first Peoria Pride event will be held at the Peoria Riverfront Landing on Sunday from Noon - 6 pm. Admission is $5 per person at the gate. Caterpillar Employees Big Band will perform on Sunday from 4 to 6 pm at Lake Eureka as part of the Eureka sesquicentennial band concert series. Come help Eureka celebrate its 150th birthday with music, ice cream and baked goods on the shores of scenic Lake Eureka.

Join the Cancer Center for Healthy Living at the beautiful Rock Island Trail State Park on Sunday for its 7th annual Pedal the Prairie- Recreational Bike Ride & Walk. The 12th Annual Art Rod Festival will take place on Sunday in the Metamora Square from 11 am - 6 pm.  There will be live music, art demos & activities, food, science area, kids art tent, classic car cruise-in, pin striping panel jam and free harmonica lessons.  The event is free.
