The 43rd Annual Pumpkin Festival continues today through Saturday in Morton with the giant festival parade, family style entertainment, carnival rides, foot races, food tents, merchants tent, craft show, parade and of course, pumpkins. He has appeared on several late-night talk shows, including the Tonight Show, and over 40 appearances on the David Letterman Late Show. Peoria celebrates its German heritage with its annual Oktoberfest beginning at 5 pm on Friday and continuing through Sunday on the Peoria Riverfront. Hosted by the Peoria Park District and the German American Central Society, the annual German Festival, showcases German heritage through song, dance, food, drink, cultural exhibits and much more. There will be German bands and musicians on multiple stages, vendors, food and beer. Admission is $7 for adults per day or $12 for a weekend pass. Children 12 & under are free. The annual Illinois River Sweep is this Saturday and begins at Forest Park Nature Center with registration from 8 - 9 am, and the Sweep is from 9 am - Noon. Hundreds of volunteers will work all along the shores of the river from Chicago to Grafton to pick up litter. Gloves and all the trash bags you can fill will be provided. The Bikers Against Street Hunger event is this Saturday beginning at Town and Country Bowl in Peoria. The bike parade begins at 9:30 am with departure at 11 am to the American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville. A $5 cash donation is all it takes to participate in a fun-filled day including a free bike show, live music by East Prarie Fire, a 50/50 drawing, food and a live auction from 12 - 5 pm.
