The 2010 Illinois Music Educators Association Convention takes place this weekend at the Peoria Civic Center with several scheduled events open to the general public. The "Young Composers and Their Music" showcase concert will be held at the Peoria Civic Center Theater beginning at 3 pm today. Admission is free. The IMEA All Conference Drum Circle will be held in the Peoria Civic Center's Triangle Lobby from 11 am - 12 pm on Saturday. This event is open and free to the public. And t
he IMEA All-State Concert will be held in the Peoria Civic Center Arena on Saturday beginning at 1 pm and the Honors Concert beginning at 3:15 pm. General admission tickets are $5 at the door or available in advance at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office. Tickets are good for both All-State and Honors Concerts. |

Comedian Henry Phillips will perform at the Jukebox Comedy Club this weekend. Showtimes are Thursday at 8 pm during the "Pro-Am Showcase" and Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30 pm. The Sun Foundation Winter Warming committee presents the annual Winter Warming Benefit for the Children's Program Fund on Saturday from 5 - 8 pm at the Zambezi River Lodge at the Peoria Zoo. This event features a wine tasting, a micro brews & imported beers tasting, plus food and desserts. Live music will be provided by Ken and Paul Osborne and the Suzuki School of Music. Celebrate the Boy Scouts of America's 100th Anniversary with the WD Boyce Council's Friends of Scouting Fundraising Campaign Kickoff from 5-6 pm on Saturday at Weaver Ridge Golf Club.
