Hi ExplorePeoria.com e-Newsletter Reader:
Yesterday afternoon a press conference hosted by the City and County of Peoria ended in a request by Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis to help get the word out about an initiative they are working on to bring an experimental internet infrastructure to Peoria as a test market for Google and they need your help.
Google is planning to launch an experiment that they hope will make Internet access better and faster for everyone. They plan to test ultra-high speed broadband networks in one or more trial locations across the country.
From now until March 26th, interested municipalities such as Peoria are providing information about their communities through a Request for information (RFI), which Google will use to determine where to build the network.
The networks will deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today, over 1 gigabit per second, fiber-to-the-home connections. Google will offer service at a competitive price to at least 50,000 and potentially up to 500,000 people. This would give a massive boost to the Peoria area.
Councilman Ryan Spain has set today, Wednesday, February 24, as the day to bombard Google with requests from Peoria area residents to bring the Google Fiber to our area.

and complete the form to nominate Peoria today.
Together we can show the Google folks that they should Play in Peoria!
Thanks for your help on this,
