The W.D. Boyce Council will honor Rich Kriegsman for his years of community service at the 2010 Pekin Area Centennial Lawn Social on Friday in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Peoria Area Community Events (PACE) will present the 2010 Steamboat Sports Festival on the Peoria riverfront this Friday through Sunday. The event includes both the Steamboat Classic foot races and the Proctor Cycling Classic which both attract top athletes from around the world. Entertainment at this year's Festival include Beatles tribute band American English on Thursday night, blues legend Buddy Guy on Friday night and local band Jamm Sammich on Saturday night. The Mackinaw Valley Vineyard Art and Wine Festival runs from Noon to 6 pm on Friday. Local artisans will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in ceramics, glass, wood, metal work, jewelry, oil painting and fiber. Wine tasting will be featured in the Art Pavilion as well as the tasting room, food will be available and there will be live music performed throughout the day. Admission is free. The Rock 'n Roll Up Your Sleeve Concert and Blood Drive will be held in the Peoria Civic Center Exhibit Hall on Friday from 2 - 7 pm.


Enjoy a cruise on the Illinois River with a Sightseeing Cruise on Spirit of Peoria. This cruise is an hour and a half-long and begins and ends at the riverfront dock in downtown Peoria cruising up and down the Illinois River. Sightseeing cruises regularly run on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from June through September.
You can also enjoy a Moonlight Cruise on Friday night. Live entertainment is included with your ticket for this 2 hour cruise. A cash bar is also available. Kids ages 6-11 can enjoy a day at Wildlife Prairie State Park Day Camp on Friday to learn about native Illinois animals, plants, and more. The cost for each half day session is $18 per child or $15 for Park Members. Multiple child and multiple session discounts are available. Sessions run from 8 am-12 pm & 12:30 pm-4:30 pm. On Friday night, pack up the family and head to the park for their Movies Under the Stars series with Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle. Cost is $15 per carload & park members receive a 10% discount. Gates open at 7:15 pm with showtime at 8 pm. Movies are shown under the park's Teepee Shelter and the Ice Cream Exhibit will be open for snacks and refreshments.
The 37th Annual Olde English Faire is also this weekend, now being held at Wildlife Prairie State Park. The Faire features merchants, jousting, story tellers, magicians, belly dancers, actors, archery, acrobats, musical acts and much more.  Each day will begin with a Grande Marche. Times for the event are 10 am - 6 pm Saturday and 10:30 am- 5 pm Sunday. Admission is $15 per carload and will allow for entry into the Park and animal exhibits.


The Canton Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 19th Annual Cruise-In in downtown Canton on Friday from 5 - 9 pm featuring antique and classic automobiles, and great family entertainment. Admission is free.
On Saturday, The Canton Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 3rd Annual Tractor Show and Pull on the Friendship Festival Fairgrounds from 9 am - 6 pm. The Tractor Show is from 9 am - 3 pm, the Tractor Pull weigh-in begins at 11 am, with pulls starting at Noon. Admission to this event is also free.

Greg Hahn will perform this weekend at the Jukebox Comedy Club on Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 or $16 with cash except for the Friday 10:30 pm show which is $13 or $12 with cash. For reservations, call 673-5853. Greg's show is rated R.


Ambient will perform at the Contemporary Art Center's Live at the Five Spot on Friday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Admission is $7 for members, $10 for non-members, $6 for student & senior members and $9 for student & senior non-members.
The Contemporary Arts Center also presents Salsa at the CAC on Friday night with a dance lesson from 8:30 - 9:30pm followed by open dancing from 9:30 pm - 12:30 am. Cash bar will be available. Admission is $3 for CAC Members, and $6 for non-members.

The Peoria Chiefs take on the Quad Cities on Friday and Saturday at 6:30 pm as well as 1 pm Sunday at O'Brien Field. Individual tickets for all games are $10 for all seats and $7 for lawn seating. Lightning Bugs at Forest Park Nature Center is an event taking place Friday from 9 - 10 pm for children and their parents where they'll experience the magic of thousands of luminescent messengers blinking over the prairie. Look at fireflies up close, learn some interesting lightning bug facts and even do some "sparking" yourself. Admission is $1 per person with a $5 maximum per family. CORE members are free.

The 19th Annual Home Builders Association of Greater Peoria Parade of Homes runs this weekend, a free-style home tour featuring the largest showcase of new construction in the tri-county area, with many beautiful newly-constructed homes open to the public. Hands of Love Ministry will present a RiverLife Gospel Music Dinner and Lunch Cruise aboard the Spirit of Peoria Riverboat on Sunday evening.
