Peoria Area Community Events (PACE) will host the 123rd Annual Santa Claus Parade, the longest running holiday parade in the country, beginning at 10:15 am Friday in downtown Peoria. The parade will be telecast live on WMBD-TV and has been sponsored by South Side Bank for the past 52 years. The Fourth Annual "Trot for Tots" run will also be held in conjunction with the Santa Parade. It's a two-mile fun run will follow the parade route through downtown Peoria and will take place just prior to the parade at 10 am. Also, a food and coat drive will take place in conjunction with the Santa Parade. Come to the parade and bring canned goods and gently used coats for The Salvation Army and the Midwest Food Bank. If you are unable to make it to the parade, canned goods and coats can be taken to HyVee in Sheridan Village on Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
Family House, Peoria's "home away from home" for families of hospital patients, will presents its ninth annual Christmas Magic event immediately after the Santa Claus Parade on Friday at the Hotel Pere Marquette. The fundraising event will feature the arrival of Santa Claus, magic show, excerpts from the Peoria Ballet's "The Nutcracker," visits by characters from the parade, and much more.
