The Peoria Area World Affairs Council will present "Who's in Charge? Foreign Policy Roles of the President and Congress" with Frank Mackaman, director of the Dirksen Congressional Center with a reception at 5 pm, dinner at 6 pm and presentation at 7 pm tonight (Thursday) at Barrack's Cater Inn. The Neil Simon classic Barefoot in the Park continues this weekend at the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield.  On Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, doors open at 6 pm, buffet is at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 8 pm. On Sundays, doors & the buffet open at noon, and the show is at 1:30 pm. Prices are $30 for Thursdays, $32 for Fridays and Sunday brunch and $34 for Saturdays. Jeff Caldwell will perform at the Jukebox Comedy Club at 8 pm tonight (Thursday) and at 8 pm & 10:30 pm on Friday & Saturday. Contemporary Arts Center's Live at the Five Spot will host Steve "The Harp" Blues Band this Friday from 5:30 - 7:30 pm in the Preston Jackson Gallery. Admission is $7 for members and $10 for non-members.
Salsa at the Contemporary Arts Center

Bear Hunt, written by Bradley Theatre Major Katy Robinson, will be presented by the Bradley University Theatre Department at 7 pm on Friday, 2:30 pm & 7 pm on Saturday & 2:30 pm on Sunday at Hartmann Center Theatre on the Bradley campus. Bear Hunt is appropriate for 2nd through 5th graders, and will last between 45 minutes to an hour. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults. The Harlem Blues and Jazz Band will perform in concert at the ICC Performing Arts Center in East Peoria beginning at 7:30 pm on Friday. Corn Stock Winter Playhouse presents "Whatever Happened to Phone Booths?", a presentation of two original theatrical pieces: "Metropolis Has No Superman", an original piece of work created by Corn Stock Theatre alum William Zorn, as well as Laura Swatner Johnson's original work, "Context". Both will be produced for the first time ever at the Corn Stock Winter Playhouse Friday & Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm. The 2011 IESA Cheer Championship will be held in the Peoria Civic Center Exhibit Hall on Saturday with doors opening at 8 am and the competition beginning at 9 am. Admission is available at the door and is $8 for adults and $4 for students in grades K-8.
The Pekin Area Business Expo 2011 will take place on Saturday from 9 am - 3 pm at the Avanti's Dome & Sports Center of Pekin located at 3401 Griffin Ave. There will be displays, door prize drawings, demonstrations, entertainment, free parking and free admission. Talking Trash, a meeting of the Mayor's Litter Committee and interested citizens, will take place at Peoria City Hall (located at 419 Fulton Street in downtown Peoria) on Saturday from 9 - 11am in the City Council Chambers. The Eagle Census Festival will take place from on Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm at Union Mission Center located at 203 Court St. in Pekin. The Festival is a unique event held annually in conjunction with the Official National Eagle Census Day to count the number of wintering Eagles on the Illinois River. Activities includes a wildlife coloring contest, eagle viewing bus tours, storytelling with Brian "Fox" Ellis beginning at 10 am, "Musical River Folklore" with Barry Cloyd beginning at 11 am, the movie "American Eagle" from the PBS series "Nature" will be shown at noon and the "Birds of Prey" show from Wildlife Prairie Park beginning at 1 pm. Family Fest 2011 will take place at the Peoria Civic Center Exhibit Hall on Saturday from 10 am - 7 pm. Featuring Fun on the Run inflatables, an Indoor Rock Climbing Wall, Balloon Artists and Face Painting, admission is $5 for adults and children over 3, ages 3 and under are free. Family Four Packs are also available (which include admission for 2 adults and 2 children) for $15.
The 2011 Midwest Cheerleading and Dance Team Championship will be held in the Peoria Civic Center Exhibit Hall beginning at 5:30 pm on Saturday and 9 am on Sunday. Admission is available at the door and is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5-12. Kids ages 4 and under are free.
The8th Annual Disc Golf Ice Bowl will be held on Saturday at the Bradley Park Disc Golf Course to benefit the Peoria Area Food Bank. Register from 8:30 to 9:30 am at the picnic shelter in Lower Bradley Park. Entry is $50 for a two-player team, including commemorative discs and donation to the PAFB. The Peoria Push presents "Rollergirls to the Rescue" at the Peoria Civic Center Arena on Saturday where they'll take on the McLean County Misfits at 7 pm and the Quad City Rollers Rock Island Line at 8:30 pm. Critter Corner will be presented on Sunday beginning at 1:30 pm at Forest Park Nature Center where you can meet the tarantula and hissing cockroaches. Admission is free, however donations are requested.
The Knox College Jazz Ensemble will be performing classic selections from the world's most renowned big bands at the Starting Gate Banquet Room, (located in Landmark Recreation Center, 3225 N. Dries Lane, in Peoria) on Sunday beginning at 7:15 pm. The Central Illinois Jazz Society House Band will play during the first set at 6 pm. Admission is $5 for members, $7 for non-members and children 14 years and under are free with an adult. Food and beverages are available for purchase.
