The 13th Annual Washington Cherry Festival takes place this weekend in downtown Washington with crafts, carnival rides, food & entertainment. Whisper & Shout at the Contemporary Art Center is an open mic for sharing and inspiring poetry. This week's theme is "Back in the Day". Doors open tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 pm, show begins at 8 pm. Admission is $4 for members or $7 for non-members.

The Friday Night Water Street Fiesta takes place every Friday night between 5 - 10 pm on the 300 block of Water Street in downtown Peoria. Enjoy Peoria's riverfront with good food and variety street entertainment while you shop. The street is closed off to accommodate the festival and admission is free.

Peoria Banking Center, a branch of the State Bank of Speer and AAA Certified Confidential Security Corp. will host a free Community Shred Day on Saturday from 9 - 11 am at both the main bank in Speer and the Peoria branch (located at 7620 N University St.). It is not necessary to remove staples or paper clips from your items to be shredded. Maximum of 5 boxes per person, please.
Normandy 1944: A World War II Living History Event will take place from on Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm at at Sommer Park (located at 6329 N. Koerner Road in Edwards). Public Battles will be held at 11 am & 2 pm Admission is $10 per car. Relive the desperate days of Normandy 1944. Allied and German troops will present authentic displays of gear, weapons and vehicles. WWII veterans are especially encouraged to attend.
