Whisper & Shout, an open mic for sharing and inspiring poetry, will be held tonight (Thursday) at the Contemporary Art Center with doors opening at 7:30 pm and the show beginning at 8 pm. Admission is $4 for members or $7 for non-members.
Live at the Five Spot
at the Contemporary Art Center will feature Change Up (R&B, jazz) on Friday beginning at 5:30 pm. Admission: $7 for members or $10 for non-members, $6 for student & senior members and $9 for student & senior non-members.
Salsa at the Contemporary Art Center will feature a dance lesson from 8:30 - 9:30 pm and open dancing to DJ Matt Vasquez from 9:30 pm - 12:30 am on Friday. A cash bar will be available. EnjoyHayrides and Hotdogs at Sommer Park (located at 6329 N. Koerner Road in Edwards) from 5 - 7 pm tonight (Thursday). Cost is $6 for ages 11 and up, $4 for ages 3-10 or a $25 maximum per family which includes hot dogs for roasting, chips, carrots, baked beans, marshmallows and drinks. In addition to food, you get a hayrack ride, mid-1800s autumn play party activities such as sack races and fortune telling plus musical entertainment too. Children and adults costumes are strongly encouraged:  the event happens every Thursday in October.

The3rd Annual Rollin' on the River Wheel-a-Thon will take place on Saturday beginning at 9 am on the RiverWalk by the RiverPlex in downtown Peoria. The Peoria Humane Society's Annual Bark in the Park will take place on Sunday at Festival Park (enter at the Gateway Building on Peoria's Riverfront, at Hamilton and Water) beginning at 11 am.
