The Illinois State Fair continues through Sunday at the State Fairgrounds in Springfield from 7 am - Midnight each day with buildings open from 9 am - 9 pm. The 9th Annual CIAA Dr. Laurence E. Norton Golf Tournament will take place on Friday at Lick Creek Golf Course (located at 2210 N. The W. D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America, with Better Banks and Maui Jim Sunglasses, will host "Over the Edge", a rappelling event from 9 am to 5 pm on Friday. Ninety people will rappel down the side of the Methodist Atrium Building (located at 900 Main St. in Peoria). Dash 4 Dance, a A 5k trail run to benefit Peoria Ballet, will be held on Saturday at Detweiller Park (at the Pinewood Shelter) beginning with registration at 6:30 am. Choose either the non-competitive 1 mile run/hike or the more challenging 3 mile (5k) long course. The long course will include some water crossings.  Fees are $25 for the 5k race or $15 for the 1 mile run/hike for individuals or $50 for a family of 4. The First Annual Morton Community Bank Cycling Classic will be held this weekend. After 23 years of holding the race in downtown Peoria, this will be the first year for the event in Morton. On Saturday, hundreds of professional and amateur bicycle racers will race for cash, prizes and bragging rights. Races will begin at 8 am with the professionals race last, beginning at 4 pm.
