Lift Every Voice: The Music of Black Americans Through History, a Black History Celebration, will take place tonight (Thursday) from 6 - 7:30 pm at at Proctor Recreation Center (located at 309 S. DuSable in Peoria). Featuring musical selections by the Heritage Ensemble and speaker Mrs. Sharon Samuels Reed, Founder and Artistic Director of the Heritage Ensemble, admission to the concert is free. Neil Simon's "Come Blow Your Horn" will be presented by the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield tonight (Thursday) through Sunday. On Thursday, Friday & Saturday, doors open at 6 pm, buffet is at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 8 pm. On Sunday, doors & the buffet open at noon, and the show is at 1:30 pm. Come see what NOT to do in your garden at the Garish Garden Show at Luthy Botanical Garden featuring pink flamingos, garden gnomes and possibly a bathroom fixture or two through March 4th. The World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) 2012 Great Lakes Regional Championship will be held Saturday at the Peoria Civic Center beginning at 9 am. Opening Day at Wildlife Prairie State Park will take place Sunday from 10 am - 4:30 pm with free admission to the park. There will be special activities and programs during the day including animal programs on the Bricks at 12:30 pm and Busters the Bunny's 1st Birthday Celebration at 1:30 pm. Learn more about each animal from a Park naturalist who will be present to discuss habitats, diet, and other interesting facts.
