The 27th Annual Arts in Education Spring Celebration will have its final performance at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza from 11am - 1:30 pm on Friday. More than 12,000 students from over 110 schools in seven counties have performed, exhibited and demonstrated their talents in the fine and applied arts. The "Dinosaurs, Solve the Mysteries" Planetarium Show at Lakeview Museum (located at 1125 W. Lake Ave. in Peoria) will be held on Thursdays at 6 pm, Saturdays at Noon & 1:30 pm and Sundays at 1:30 pm and 2:15 pm through May 31st. Visit dinosaur graveyards, study their bones and reconstruct how dinosaurs lived and died. Admission is $4 for adults, $3.50 for youth and seniors and free for members. The 2012 Summer Camp Music Festival will be held this weekend at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe beginning today (Thursday) with a pre-party and running through Sunday evening. The Morton Civic Chorus presents "Encore 2012" at Bradley's Hartmann Center Theater tonight (Thursday) through Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. The 25th Annual Louie Louie Parade & River Jam will take place on Friday beginning at 3:30 pm with the parade through downtown Peoria and the River Jam running from 4 - 10 pm at the CEFCU stage at the Landing on Peoria's Riverfront. Zoo Fest 2012 will take place on Saturday at the Peoria Zoo from 11am - 3 pm. Participate in a Barn Dance at Camp Wokanda on Saturday night from 7-10 pm. All skill levels are welcome. Admission is $5 per person with a $20 maximum cost per family.
Pioneer Days will take place on Sunday at Sommer Park from 1 - 4 pm where you can experience first-hand the daily life of rural Peorians in the mid 19th century. Admission is $2 per person, ages four and up. Activities at the homestead, barn, blacksmith shop and schoolhouse include laundry, gardening, woodworking, blacksmithing, candle making and hands-on children's activities. The Annual Memorial Day Celebration will take place on Monday near the Gateway Building on the Peoria Riverfront with a Memorial Day remembrance service to begin at 10:30 am under the Gateway Building which will pay tribute to all of the men and women who have fought for America's freedom.
