is taking place in Chillicothe today (Thursday) through Saturday in City Park
(located in the 1100 block of Second St.). Festivities include a spaghetti
supper, a pig calling contest, the "Newlywed Game" and a carnival featuring a
Family Fun night tonight (Thursday) with unlimited rides for $20, the Mr.
Chillicothe & Chillicothe Star contests on Friday, a parade, a bags tournament,
a diaper derby, Mr. Muscle and Little Miss Swimsuit contests on Saturday, plus a
Rescue 33 silent auction, a food tent and the carnival throughout the festival. |
The
Exhibition "K'NEX Building Thrill Rides" will take place
through Sept, 1 at Lakeview Museum in Peoria. Use K'NEX rods and connectors
to build a thrill ride of your own, which will help you understand the different
properties of physics such as centrifugal force, kinetic energy, and motion.
Exhibit hours are 10 am - 5 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, 10 am -
8 pm on Thursdays and Noon - 5 pm on Sundays. Admission is $6 for adults,

The
2012 Tremont Turkey Festival will take place this weekend in downtown
Tremont. Hours are 9 am - 10 pm today (Thursday), 11 am - 10 pm on Friday, 6:30
am - 10 pm on Saturday and 9 am - 5 pm on Sunday. The event features the Miss
Tremont Pageant, a pancake & sausage breakfast, a 5k race, horseshoe tournament,
antique tractor pull and lip sync contest on Saturday, community church service,
car show and parade on Sunday plus a carnival and food throughout the festival.

Peoria Historical Society hosts the Grandview Drive and Springdale Cemetery
Trolley Tour every Thursday from 10:30 - Noon running June through October
and every Saturday from from 1 - 2:30 pm running June through August. The Tour
leaves from Harp & Thistle in Peoria Heights.

Pair Up for Health, a 3-mile trail race through Wildlife Prairie Park,
will take place on
Saturday beginning at 8 am plus a Kid's Fun Run that begins at 9 am. The race
incorporates obstacles such as small hurdles, rolling hills, barrel zig zag,
military crawl, tires, stairs, a 4-foot wall and a 58-foot slide called the
Gollywhopper. The course will challenge participants with mixed terrain
including dirt roads, wooded trails, open fields and grassy paths. The

is $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under with male and female divisions for each age division and participation awards given
