The Piccadilly Circus will perform at the East Peoria Event Center at 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm tonight (Thursday) through Friday, at 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm on Saturday and at 1 pm, 3:30 pm and 6 pm on Sunday. The Peoria Symphony Orchestra launches its anniversary season with "Broadway Tonight!" beginning at 8 pm Saturday at the Peoria Civic Center Theater featuring the original Broadway Mary Poppins, Ashley Brown. The first Annual "Das Bier Run" 5K Run in conjunction with the Oktoberfest at Peoria Riverfront Park begins on Sunday at 12:30 pm. Advance registration is $25. After September 1 and on race day the registration fee is $30. Runners will each receive a free Das Bier Run stein for participating. Friends and families of those killed by violence and other tragedies are invited to attend Peoria's Day of Remembrance beginning at 3 pm Sunday at the Gateway Building (located at 200 NE Water St. in downtown Peoria). The event, now in its third year locally, remembers those lost through murder, suicide, car accident, fire or other non-health related cause. Admission is free.
Dr. Sherry Seckler will present "Music of the Victorian Era" on a completely restored 1919 Hinners organ beginning at 3 pm Sunday at the Universalist Unitarian Church (located at 3000 W. Richwoods Blvd. in Peoria). Dr. Seckler is Music Director of St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria and Diocesan Director of Music of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. The recital is open to the public. Admission is free and an offering will be received with a reception following the program.
