Sky Harbor's 31st Annual Holiday Wine Tasting will feature Local Wines and Wine experts from Willetts Winery and Kickapoo Creek Winery will take place from 5 - 9 pm Tonight (Thursday) with complimentary tasting and a question & answer session. There will also be a cheese tasting courtesy of Ludwig Farmstead Creamery, chocolate by Fannie May plus live music by poet/songstress Shannon Moore beginning at 7 pm. The full menu will be available during regular dining hours of 4 - 10 pm. Reservations are suggested.
Home for the Holidays opens at the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield tonight (Thursday) and runs through December 31. On Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, doors open at 6 pm, buffet is at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 8 pm. On Sundays, doors & the buffet open at noon, and the show is at 1:30 pm. History comes to life at Sommer Park (located at 6329 N. Koerner Road in Edwards) as Civil War soldiers construct Winter Quarters and prepare for their winter encampment on Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm Admission is $5 per vehicle.
The Shoppes at Grand Prairie will present a Grand Day of Giving on Saturday from 10 am - 9 pm. The Peoria Train Fair will take place at the Illinois Central College East Peoria Campus on Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm. Sponsored by the Illinois Valley Model Railroad Club in Peoria and Pekin's River City Model Railroad Club, the event is a fundraiser that will feature several operating model railroad layouts, swap meet tables, photos, books, railroad memorabilia, videos and more. Admission is $3 for adults and kids aged 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Refreshments will be available.
The42nd Annual Peoria Turkey Trot will take place on Sunday from 1- 3 pm at Detweiller Park. Peoria's oldest running race, the 4-mile run's top two finishers in each division receive a trophy and a turkey, compliments of Kroger. All entrants receive a Turkey Trot t-shirt. A 1/2 mile youth fun-run will take place immediately before the start of the run. Fee is $18 or $2 for the Youth Fun Run (does not include t-shirt). Peoria Riverfront Museum Director of Collections Kristan H. McKinsey, will conduct a Guided Tour of the Collections Gallery on Sunday beginning at 2 pm. Exhibitions include 50 Years of Studio Art Glass and Southwest Moments: selections from the Charles and Jeanette Gilchrist White Collection. The guided tour is free with paid admission which is free for members and $11 for adults, $10 for senior citizens aged 60 and over and $9 for ages 3-17.
