The 42nd annual Steamboat Days Festival will take place on the Peoria Riverfront beginning tonight (Thursday), Friday at 4:30 pm and Saturday at 7 am. Featuring a carnival, live music, food, a Steamboat Days Kickoff Cruise on the Spirit of Peoria on Thursday beginning at 7 pm, a Bags Tournament, the All American Lumberjack Show and a Lumberjack Kids Camp. Admission is free on Thursday and carnival wristbands good for unlimited rides are $20 from 5 - 9 pm.  Admission on Friday & Saturday is free until 7 pm, then it's $5 per person, $10 per family and kids under 12 are free with a paid adult. Life Could be a Dream continues (Thursday) at the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield and runs through July 14. On Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, doors open at 6 pm, buffet is at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 8 pm. On Sundays, doors & the buffet open at noon, and the show is at 1:30 pm. Family Night will take place at DragonLand Water Park (located at 193 Red Bud Drive in Pekin) tonight (Thursday) from 7 - 8:30 pm. Featuring a zero depth, play area, two water slides that twist and turn and "Dude" the dragon slide with a mushroom waterfall geyser play features provide wet and wild entertainment for the whole family. Peoria Historical Society's "Old Peoria and the Judge Tour" which travels through the earliest sections of downtown and to Peoria's Northside, will take place every every Friday in June beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria). The Grandview Drive and Springdale Cemetery Trolley Tour winds along Grandview Drive and takes place every Saturday in June beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights).  The "Naughty to Nice Trolley Tour" traces Peoria history from 1920's to the present and will take place every Saturday in June beginning at 1 pm leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria).  Cost for each tour is $12 (including a $1 tip for the driver) and seniors 65 and older ride the trolley free with proof of age and a regular ticket purchase. Zoo To Do, the annual gala event, will take place on Friday at the Peoria Zoo with a VIP cocktail hour at 5:30 pm, a regular cocktail hour starting at 6 pm followed by live entertainment plus a silent auction and includes food & drink. The 40th running of the Steamboat Classic 4 mile, 15 Kilometer and 4 Kilometer Races will take place on Saturday beginning at 7 am on Hamilton Street (near Adams Street) in downtown Peoria. Regarded as the "World's Fastest Four Miles", "Illinois Toughest 15K" and "Peoria's Easiest 4K", these running events are open and cater to runners and walkers of all ability levels. Peoria County will host a Recycling Extravaganza Event on Saturday from 9 am - 1 pm at Mid-Town Shopping Center parking lot (located at 1800 Knoxville Ave. in Peoria - the former Cub Foods) and is free and open to Peoria county residents who have recyclables, electronics to recycle or documents to shred. This is a one-stop stop where you don't need to get out of your car to use the service.

Stargazing at Northmoor at the Northmoor Observatory (located on the Donovan Golf Course at 5805 N. Knoxville Ave. in Peoria) will be open to the public for stargazing from dusk until 11 pm on Saturday (If the skies are cloudless). Volunteers will be on hand to aid you in viewing the night sky through the telescope, locating planets and constellations, and discovering wonders of the cosmos. Admission and parking is free.
