Whisper
& Shout, an open mic for sharing and inspiring poetry, will be held at the
Contemporary Art Center tonight (Wednesday) with doors opening at 7:30 pm and
the show beginning at 8 pm. Admission is $4 for members or $7 for non-members. 
The
Contemporary Art Center will feature Rob Williams & the Soggy Bottom Blues
Band on Friday
beginning at 5:30 pm. Admission is $7 for members, $10 for non-members, $6 for
student & senior members and $9 for student & senior non-members.
And Salsa at the Contemporary Art Center will feature a dance lesson on
Friday from 8:30 - 9:30 pm and open dancing to DJ Matt Vasquez from 9:30 pm -

The
annual 
Clayton
Anderson will perform tonight (Wednesday) as part of the summer concert
series on the CEFCU Center Stage on the Peoria RiverFront with gates opening at
7:30 pm. Tickets are $7 and available at the gate. An up-and-coming country
singer/songwriter, Anderson's concerts are described as high energy, fun and
crowd pleasers. His first album, "Torn Jeans & Tailgates" was released just last
year. 
Join
the Moss Bradley Residential Association for an Old Fashioned 4th of July
Celebration on Thursday at the Pettengill-Morron House (located at 1230 W
Moss Ave in Peoria) from Noon - 2 pm. Featuring the Peoria Pops Orchestra at
12:30 pm, hot dogs, chips, beverages and ice cream will be available for
purchase. Please bring lawn chairs to enjoy the performance. Admission is free,
however donations will be accepted for the MBRA and its programs.
The Peoria Chiefs will take on the Beloit Snappers Thursday beginning at 5:30 pm and on Friday
and Saturday at 7 pm and again on Sunday at 5 pm at Dozer Stadium.

Celebrate
Independence Day at the Peoria Historical Society's John C. Flanagan House
Museum (located at 942 NE Glen Oak Avenue in Peoria) on Thursday with gates
opening at 6 pm and fireworks at approximately 9:30 pm. Admission is $5 for
adults and $3 for children. Refreshments including soda, water, popcorn and
novelties will be available for $1 each. Watch the Peoria Riverfront fireworks
from the bluff. Seating is limited to the first 200, so arrive before dusk for a
good spot. 
The Red, White & Boom Fireworks Display will take place on the Peoria
riverfront on Thursday beginning at 5 pm with vendors, live entertainment and
more. The synchronized fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 pm. Listen

Peoria
Historical Society's "Naughty
to Nice Trolley Tour" traces Peoria history from 1920's to the present and
will take place every Friday in July beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Kelleher's
Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria). Peoria
Historical Society's "Haunted Peoria" explores the darker side of Peoria
and takes you to places where strange sightings and legendary deaths have been
reported. The tour will take place every every Saturday in July beginning at 1
pm leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown
Peoria). And Peoria Historical Society's "River City Tour" will take
place every every Saturday in July beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Harp &

Sightseeing Cruise will take place on Friday and Saturday on the Spirit of Peoria with
boarding beginning at 1:30 pm and the cruise running from 2 - 3:30 pm. On
Saturday only, there is also a cruise from 11 am - 1:30 pm with boarding

The 6th Annual Backyard Talent Show for St. Jude will be held on Saturday
beginning at 6 pm at Idlewood Park in Morton. The event will also have a bake

Stargazing
at Northmoor at the Northmoor Observatory (located on the Donovan Golf
Course at 5805 N. Knoxville Ave. in Peoria) will be open to the public for
stargazing from dusk until 11 pm on Saturday (If the skies are cloudless).
Volunteers will be on hand to aid you in viewing the night sky through the
telescope, locating planets and constellations, and discovering wonders of the

Peoria German-American Society will be host their annual Volksfest at
Hickory Grove Park (located at 12403 Hickory Grove Rd. in Dunlap - just north of

Peoria Historical Society's Pettengill-Morron House Museum (located at 1212 Moss
Avenue in Peoria) will host the "Miss Morron's World Travels Exhibit" on
Sunday from 1 - 4 pm. The exhibit features her 1957 four-and-half month around
the world cruise including her favorite United States destinations such as New
