The 49th Rennick Art Show, sponsored by the Peoria Historical Society, continues at Peoria Public Library Main Library (located at 107 NE Monroe Street in Peoria in the lower level gallery) through May 30th. Admission is free. The gallery is open Monday - Saturday from 9 am - 6 pm for viewing.
The East Peoria Carnival will be held in the Festival Building parking lot (located at 2200 E. Washington St. in East Peoria) from 5 - 9 pm tonight (Thursday), from 5 - 10 pm on Friday, 1 - 10 pm on Saturday and from 1 - 5 pm on Sunday. Rides, games and food will be featured with individual ride tickets available for $1.25 each or a family pack of 20 tickets for $20 will be also available (all rides take two or more tickets). Wristband days will be from 5- 9 pm on Thursday and from 1 - 5 pm on Sunday where a $20 wristband purchase per person per day allows for unlimited carnival rides.
Watch as the Peoria Chiefs try to "Strike Out Stroke", a fundraiser for the Retreat and Refresh Stroke Camp, tonight (Thursday) beginning at 5:30 pm at Dozer Park in Downtown Peoria. In addition to baseball, enjoy a variety of stroke education and awareness activities and a visit from the OSF Life Flight and inflatable MegaBrain, as well as $1 drinks and post-game fireworks. The 28th Annual Arts In Education Spring Celebration will be held on Friday at the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza from 11 am - 1:30 pm. The Spring Celebration highlights the talents of Pre-K through 12th grade students from seven Central Illinois counties. Over 12,000 students perform, exhibit and demonstrate their talents in the Fine Arts and Applied Arts during the six-week event. The Annual Louie Louie Parade kicks off the summer season at 3:30 pm on Friday with the Louie Louie Festival immediately following the Parade on the CEFCU Stage at The Landing on the Peoria Riverfront. The parade begins in the Peoria Civic Center parking lot on Fulton and Monroe streets and proceeds down Monroe to Main Street to the riverfront. Put on your craziest outfit, grab your kazoo and enjoy live music and cold drinks. Admission for both the Parade & Festival is free.

The 2013 Summer Camp Music Festival will be held at Three Sisters Park (located at 17201 N State Route 29 in Chillicothe) beginning tonight (Thursday) with a pre-party and running through Sunday evening. The Mackinaw Music and International Wine & Beer Festival will be held at Mackinaw Valley Vineyard (located at 33633 Illinois Route 9 in Mackinaw) from 11 am - 11 pm on Saturday and from 12 - 6 pm on Sunday. Stargazing at Northmoor at the Northmoor Observatory (located on the Donovan Golf Course at 5805 N. Knoxville Ave. in Peoria) will be open to the public for stargazing from dusk until 11 pm on Saturday (If the skies are cloudless). Step back in time and experience 19th century life in rural Peoria County at Sommer Park's Pioneer Days from 1-4 pm on Sunday. Activities at the Homestead, Barn, Blacksmith Shop and Schoolhouse may include laundry, gardening, woodworking, blacksmithing, candle making, hands-on children's activities.  This month's theme is Heirloom Gardening. Admission is $2.25 per person for ages 4 and up.
A Memorial Day Remembrance Service will take place on Monday beginning at 10:30 am on the Peoria RiverFront under the Gateway Building and will pay tribute to all of the men and women who have fought for America's freedom.  The Peoria Municipal Band will perform. Admission is free.
