Peoria Historical Society's Naughty to Nice Trolley Tour, which traces Peoria history from 1920's to the present, will take place every Friday in September beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria).  The Haunted Peoria Tour explores the darker side of Peoria and takes you to places where strange sightings and legendary deaths have been reported and will take place every Saturday through October beginning at 1 pm leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria). And their River City Tour will take place every Saturday in September beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights). Cost for each tour is $12 (including a $1 tip for the driver) and seniors 65 and older ride the trolley free with proof of age and a regular ticket purchase. The Peoria Park District and the German American Central Society will host the 18th Annual Oktoberfest on the Peoria Riverfront showcasing German heritage through song, dance, food, drink, cultural exhibits and more. Hours are Friday from 5 - 11 pm, Saturday from Noon - 11 pm and Sunday from 10:30 am - 6 pm. Admission is $9 on Friday, $7 on Saturday before 5 pm or $9 after 5 pm, free on Sunday before 11 am with canned good donation or $7 after 11 am. The Gathering of Veterans Pow Wow will be held at Seven Circles Heritage Center (located at 8817 W Southport Rd in Edwards) on Friday from 6 - 9 pm, on Saturday from 10:30 am - 9 pm and on Sunday from 10:30 am - 5 pm. All veterans (past and present) will be honored with healing, honoring and celebrating all warrior heroes. Activities will include Native American singers, dancers and vendors. New this year will be the Illinois Patriot Guard Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial Wall. By popular demand, the Quilts of Tears display (a tribute to the victims of agent orange), will be brought back to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Enjoy a Barn Dance at Camp Wokanda (located at 620 E Boy Scout Rd in Chillicothe) on Friday beginning at 7 pm. First time dancers and families are welcome - no partner is needed. The ever-popular string band "Too Old To be Controlled" will provide the music and Jim Hicks and Gail Hintze will teach all the dances. Admission is $5, with a $20 maximum for families. The Peoria Historical Society's Annual Henri de Tonti Dinner will take place on Saturday at the Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette Ballroom beginning at 6 pm. Honoring Illinois State Senator Dave Koehler for his principled leadership contributions to the Peoria area. The 2nd Annual "Das Bier Run" 5K Run and Walk in conjunction with the Oktoberfest will be held on Sunday at Peoria Riverfront Park beginning at 12:30 pm north of the Gateway building. Registration fee is $30 and all participants will receive 2 tokens for either beer or soft drinks after the race as well as free admission to Oktoberfest that day.
