The Illinois State Fair opens today (Thursday) and runs until Midnight through Sunday, August 18. Admission is $7 for adults (ages 13 - 59), $3 for children (ages 5-12), free for children under 5), and $3 for senior citizens (ages 60 and older). Vehicle Parking per day is $7. Peoria Historical Society's Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War Tour tells the story of Lincoln's visits to Peoria, the Civil War troops and Camp Peoria & Camp Lyon where they trained and will take place every Friday in August beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria).  The Haunted Peoria Tour explores the darker side of Peoria and takes you to places where strange sightings and legendary deaths have been reported. Running With The Dogs, a benefit fundraiser for Paws Giving Independence, will take place on Sunday at Junction City with pre-registration at 8:30 am and the race beginning at 10 am. Race fee is $20 per person and helps to train dogs to be service animals. Up-to-date rabies tags or vaccination records are required. There will also be a Post-Race Luau Party from 11 am - 2 pm featuring live music, food, refreshments, raffles, activities and contests for dogs. .
