The East Peoria Carnival will feature rides, games and food in the parking lot at the Festival Building (located at 2200 E. Washington St. in East Peoria). Hours are 5 - 9 pm tonight (Thursday), 5 - 10 pm on Friday and 1 - 10 pm on Saturday. Individual ride tickets cost $1.25 each. A family pack of 20 tickets for $20 will be available. All rides take two or more tickets. Wristband days are from 5 - 9 pm on Thursday and 1 - 5 pm on Saturday where for $20, you'll get unlimited carnival rides. Proceeds from the carnival will be donated to the Nativity Display Association, which erects and maintains the Narrated Nativity display in the Festival of Lights. The Washington Good Neighbor Days Festival will take place behind John Bearce Companies on Business on US RT 24 in Washington beginning at 5 pm tonight (Thursday), at 9 am on Saturday and at 11 am on Sunday. There will be a kids talent show, a baby photo contest, a dog variety show, a co-ed softball tournament and a Kids Fun Run plus a 5K and a 1 Mile Run/Walk. The 1st Annual MDA Memorial 5K Fun Run will be held at Laura Bradley Park in Peoria on Saturday beginning at 8 am to raise awareness for the over 1,100 people fighting neuromuscular disease in Central Illinois. "Learning How to See Photography" will take place at Wildlife Prairie Park on Saturday beginning at 10 am featuring Mike Boatman, a nationally recognized photographer. A fun and interactive session that will offer insights on how to make what you see through the lens come to life in a photo, participants will take a field trip through the park plus get a friendly critique session. Normandy 1944, which re-enacts the desperate days of Normandy, 1944 of World War II, will take place at Sommer Park (located at 6329 N. Koerner Rd. in Edwards) from 10 am - 4 pm on Saturday with public battles at 11 am and 2 pm plus a veteran panel at 12:30 pm and on Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm with a church service at 11 am and a public battle at 1 pm. Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Allied and German troops will present authentic displays of gear, weapons, tanks and vehicles. World War II veterans are especially encouraged to attend where they will be honored. There will be transportation available around the camps for those who need assistance. Mackinaw Valley Vineyard will host their annual International Music, Wine and Beer Festival from 11 am - 11 pm on Saturday & from Noon - 6 pm on Sunday.
