letter carriers will help collect
non-perishable food items as part of
their annual Stamp Out Hunger
campaign throughout their routes on
Saturday. Simply leave your donation in
a grocery bag near your mailbox for your

The Illinois River Watch Workshop
will take place on Saturday at Sommer
Park (located at 6329 N. Koerner Rd. in

River Watch Citizen scientist at this
workshop presented by National Great
Rivers Research and Education Center
where volunteers are trained and
certified as a "Citizen Scientist" to
monitor and protect local streams.
Volunteers adopt a local stream site and
examine indicators of water quality and

The
Pollak Hospital (formerly the Peoria
State Hospital located at 4500
Enterprise Drive in Bartonville) will
host its 1st Annual Artist Fair
on Saturday from 10 am - 3 pm.
Featuring artists and vendors exhibiting
paintings, carvings, photography,
jewelry, antiques plus authors Gary
Lisman of Bittersweet Memories and
Sylvia Shults of Fractured Spirits will
be selling and signing their books about

at the Peoria Riverfront Museum

closer look at ancient Egyptian
artifacts, papyrus samples, the process
of mummification, plus you'll learn to
