The 2014 Summer Camp Music Festival will be held at Three Sisters Park (located at 17201 N State Route 29 in Chillicothe) will begin tonight (Thursday) with a pre-party and run through Sunday evening. With more than 15,000 attendees, the event features more than 100 bands on 7 stages over 3 days. The festival also features a kid's camp, an extensive representation of non-profit organizations, on-site camping, unique arts & craft artisans plus a variety of food and beer. The 40th annual World Championship Old-time Piano Playing Contest and Festival will take place beginning tonight (Thursday) and throughout the weekend around the Peoria area with ragtime and honky-tonk piano players from around the world competing for more than $4,000 in cash prizes. There is a dinner at Sky Harbor Steakhouse on Thursday, a Spirit of Peoria cruise on Friday plus contests, competitions and more at Embassy Suites East Peoria throughout the weekend. The City of Peoria Annual Memorial Day Program will take place on Monday beginning at 10:30 am at the Gateway Building in downtown Peoria. Featured guest speaker will be Col. "Robbie" Robertson, commander of the 182nd Airlift Wing, Illinois Air National Guard. City officials scheduled to be in attendance include Mayor Jim Ardis and City Council members Eric Turner, Tim Riggenbach, Chuck Weaver, Casey Johnson and Ryan Spain.
