The Illinois State Fair continues from 7 am - Midnight each day through Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults (ages 13 - 59), $3 for children (ages 5-12), free for children under 5), and $3 for senior citizens (ages 60 and older). Vehicle Parking per day is $7. Peoria Historical Society's Grandview Drive & Springdale Cemetery Trolley Tour winds along Grandview Drive takes place every Friday in August beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights).
The Naughty to Nice Trolley Tour takes place every Saturday in August beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria) and traces Peoria history from 1920's to the present and includes stories of the city's gangster era, including driving by the site of Peoria's most notorious crime scene.  The "Roll Out the Barrel Tour" takes you through the earliest sections of downtown Peoria and into the Warehouse District where you'll discover facts about distilling in Peoria every Saturday in August beginning at 1 pm also leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub.  Cost for each tour is $15 and seniors 65 and older ride the trolley free with proof of age and a regular ticket purchase. Sightseeing Cruise will take place on the Spirit of Peoria on Friday and Sunday with with boarding beginning at 1:30 pm and the cruise running from 2 - 3:30 pm. A Wizard of Oz Festival will be held at Butler Haynes Park in Mapleton on Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm. Admission is free. Dress up the little tikes and walk the yellow brick road around the Oz children's garden and meet costumed characters. The 23rd Annual Reptile & Amphibian Fair will take place at The Grand Hotel (located at 4400 N. Brandywine Drive in Peoria) on Saturday 10 am - 5 pm and Sunday from Noon - 5 pm. A variety of snakes, turtles, lizards and amphibians will be displayed plus there will be educational exhibits, face-painting & a fund-raising raffle. Super Saturday: Shark Attack will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Saturday beginning at Noon where you will learn about megalodons, an extinct species of shark that lived 28 to 1.5 million years ago and reached a maximum length of 46-59 feet. You will also be able to view an assortment of shark teeth and jaws. No pre-registration is necessary: this event is included in admission. Admission to the museum is free to members or $11 for adults, $10 for seniors citizens 60+ or $9 for youth 3-17 plus Peoria county residents receive a 15% discount. Golfin' in the Wild will take place at Wildlife Prairie Park on Saturday with registration beginning at 3 pm and a shotgun start at 3:30 pm. In conjunction with its 2014 Midwest Convention, the Islamic Circle of North America Open House will take place for the general public to explore and discuss topics related to Islam in Room 401 at the Peoria Civic Center on Sunday beginning at 11:30 am. The "Window to Peace" open house will cover topics including "What is Islam?", "Women in Islam", "Shariah Law" and "Jesus in the Quran".
