The 48th Annual Morton Pumpkin Festival will be held on the Jefferson School Grounds in downtown Morton continuing tonight (Thursday) and opens at 11 am on Friday, at 6:30 am on Saturday and at 11 am on Sunday. Featuring a carnival, live music, the Miss Morton & Pumpkin Princess pageants, a parade on Saturday, the Pumpkin Idol competition, a craft fair plus food including pumpkin specialties such as pumpkin chili, baked beans, pasta salad, pumpkin ice cream, shakes, cheesecake, cookies and of course, pumpkin pie. Is There Life After 50? continues tonight (Thursday) and runs through Sunday with performances on Friday, Saturday & Sunday at the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield. Peoria Historical Society's River City Trolley Tour that winds along Grandview Drive takes place on Friday beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights).  The Abraham Lincoln Trolley Tourtakes place on Saturday beginning at 10:30 am leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub (located at 619 SW Water Street in downtown Peoria) and takes you through Springdale Cemetery to see the final resting place of Civil War veterans and by the GAR Hall, built in 1909 and hear the story of Joseph Greenhut, one of the Whiskey Barons who provided funding for the Hall.  The Haunted Peoria Tour is where you'll hear the stories behind the ghostly appearances that have startled and puzzled Peorians through the years whichalso takes place on Saturday beginning at 1 pm also leaving from Kelleher's Irish Pub.  Cost for each tour is $15 and seniors 65 and older ride the trolley free with proof of age and a regular ticket purchase. Bacon & Kegs is a walk around outside tasting component featuring creative bacon dishes in central Illinois. Other activities will include a Miss Bacon and Kegs Pageant, a bacon eating contest, a children's area, the experience lounge (live feed from Twitter and Facebook) and the 5KEG Run/Walk. Super Saturday: Electricity & Magnetism will take place on Saturday at the Peoria Riverfront Museum from 1 - 2 pm where you will explore the connection between electricity and magnets, including how electricity can make magnets move, and how moving magnets can create electricity. Experiment with simple circuit boards, a Van de Graaff generator and a simple electric motor. No pre-registration is necessary and this event is included with admission.
