The Soda Pop Tour 2015 will be held on the Pekin Riverfront Park (located just east of the Illinois River at 121 Court Street in Pekin) on Saturday showcasing over 80 unique and vintage craft sodas from 10 am - 8 pm. It's a complete family festival bringing back Americana with a modern day twist where you can drink up the nostalgia and enjoy great family entertainment, food, games for the kids at an inflatable playground and the Coca-Cola mobile museum. Sculpture Walk Peoria is offering free guided tours of the 15 sculptures that are on display for 12 months on Washington Street between Oak and Liberty Streets every Saturday through the summer. The inaugural walk took place last Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the artists on hand to answer questions about their work.  Tours will begin at the Peoria Riverfront Museum beginning at 10 am and Noon. The 50th Annual Tremont Turkey Festival will take place through Sunday in downtown Tremont. Hours are through 10 pm tonight (Thursday), 11 am - 10 pm on Friday, 6:30 am - 10 pm on Saturday and 9 am - 5 pm on Sunday. The event features the Miss Tremont Pageant, a pancake & sausage breakfast, a 5k race, a horseshoe tournament, an antique tractor pull, a craft show, a community church service, acar show and a parade on Sunday plus a carnival, live entertainment, food featuring (of course) turkey throughout the festival. The 7th Annual Pasta Party for St. Jude will take place tonight (Thursday) at Barracks Cater Inn (located at 1224 W Pioneer Pkwy. in Peoria) from 5 - 7 pm. I've Decided, Because I Can will host "My First 5K" which will take place on the Peoria Riverfront at Running Central beginning at 6 pm. The event is for people who have always wanted to run a 5K race, but who didn't think they could. Late registration is from 4 - 4:45 pm at Running Central and the event is followed by a free Riverfront Street Party on Water Street between Liberty and Harrison streets with live music by The West Macqueen Street Band, vendor booths plus food from Rhythm Kitchen. The Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum (located at 2218 North Prospect Road in Peoria in Glen Oak Park) will hold an official ribbon-cutting ceremony just before opening its doors on Friday to the public beginning at 9 am. The museum will be open daily from 9 am - 4 pm through August 15th. The museum offers a broad range of programs for families and children. The Peoria Public Library will host its Living Proof Exhibit a display of artwork by cancer patients and survivors, in its downtown gallery through June 30th. The exhibit is free and open to the public during library hours. An artists' reception will be held on Saturday from 2 - 4 pm. Living Proof Exhibit, a nonprofit organization founded by breast cancer survivors Mary Ellen Cunningham and Pamela Crouch, has been sharing the therapeutic benefits of creating art with cancer patients, survivors, their families and caregivers for several years. Peoria Historical Society's Grandview Drive & Springdale Cemetery Trolley Tour winds along Grandview Drive takes place every Friday in June beginning at 11 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights).  The "Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War Tour" runs every Saturday in June beginning at 11 am telling the story of Lincoln's visits to Peoria, the Civil War troops and Camp Peoria & Camp Lyon where they trained plus visits Springdale Cemetery to see the final resting place of Civil War veterans and drives by the GAR Hall, built in 1909, to hear the story of Joseph Greenhut, one of the Whiskey Barons who provided funding for the Hall .And the "Roll Out the Barrel Tour" takes you through the earliest sections of downtown Peoria and into the Warehouse District where you'll discover facts about distilling in Peoria running every Saturday in June beginning at 1:30 pm. The last two tours leave from Kelleher's Irish Pub, (located at 619 SW Water Street near State St. in downtown Peoria) Parking is available across the street from Kelleher's. Cost for each tour is $15 (including a $1 tip for the driver) and seniors 65 and older ride the trolley free with proof of age and a regular ticket purchase.
