The 2015 Princeville Heritage Days will take place from 5 pm - Midnight tonight (Thursday), 9 am - Midnight on Friday, from 7 am - Midnight on Saturday and beginning at 8 am with a pancake & sausage breakfast on Sunday. There will be food, a carnival, a beer tent, live entertainment, an art show a talent show, an auction plus vendors, a bags tournament, a kiddie tractor pull, a parade and a community church service beginning at 10:30 am on Sunday. Things My Mother Taught Me continues tonight (Thursday) at the Barn 2 Dinner Theatre in Goodfield and runs through July 26. The Morton Fine Arts Association will present Arts in the Park featuring The King Family from 7 - 9 pm tonight (Thursday) performing blue grass, gospel, & original songs. The Velocity Summer Glow Tour, the official night club experience for teens ages 14 - 19, will take place tonight (Thursday) in the Peoria Civic Center Exhibit Hall beginning at 8 pm. The Peoria Public Library will host its Living Proof Exhibit a display of artwork by cancer patients and survivors, in its downtown gallery through June 30th. The exhibit is free and open to the public during library hours. An artists' reception will be held on Saturday from 2 - 4 pm. Living Proof Exhibit, a nonprofit organization founded by breast cancer survivors Mary Ellen Cunningham and Pamela Crouch, has been sharing the therapeutic benefits of creating art with cancer patients, survivors, their families and caregivers for several years. Peoria Historical Society's Grandview Drive & Springdale Cemetery Trolley Tour winds along Grandview Drive takes place every Friday in June beginning at 11 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights). The "Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War Tour" runs every Saturday in June beginning at 11 am telling the story of Lincoln's visits to Peoria, the Civil War troops and Camp Peoria & Camp Lyon where they trained plus visits Springdale Cemetery to see the final resting place of Civil War veterans and drives by the GAR Hall, built in 1909, to hear the story of Joseph Greenhut, one of the Whiskey Barons who provided funding for the Hall .And the "Roll Out the Barrel Tour" takes you through the earliest sections of downtown Peoria and into the Warehouse District where you'll discover facts about distilling in Peoria running every Saturday in June beginning at 1:30 pm. The last two tours leave from Kelleher's Irish Pub, (located at 619 SW Water Street near State St. in downtown Peoria) Parking is available across the street from Kelleher's. A Sightseeing Cruise will take place on the Spirit of Peoria on Friday with boarding beginning at 1:30 pm and the cruise running from 2 - 3:30 pm. A Zentangle Meditative Drawing Workshop will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Saturday beginning at 1:30 pm. Zentangle combines the art of meditation with the beauty of free-form drawing. No previous artistic ability is needed to create these unique patterns, called "tangles". A Fundraising Benefit for Cooper James Adams aka "Super Cooper" will take place on Saturday at the Cue & Brew in Chillicothe (located at 13301 IL-29 in Chillicothe) from 2 pm - 2 am.
