D-Day: Normandy 1944 3D will open on Saturday at the Peoria Riverfront Museum Giant Screen Theater with shows every hour from 11 am - 4 pm. Featuring a display of period vehicles and artifacts, the Central Illinois World War II Reenactors will be on hand along with veterans to give personal comments about the movie and the battle. Blending multiple cinematographic techniques, including animation, CGI and stunning live-action images, "D-Day: Normandy 1944" brings this monumental event to the world's largest screens for the first time ever. The 41st Annual World Championship Old-time Piano Playing Contest and Festival will take place this weekend around the Peoria area with ragtime and honky-tonk piano players from around the world competing for more than $4,000 in cash prizes.
