The 2015 Pekin Marigold Festival will be held tonight (Thursday) through Sunday at Mineral Springs Park in Pekin featuring Frank Fritz, star of the History Channel hit show American Pickers, a Miss Marigold Pageant, live entertainment, a sand volleyball tournament, the Marigold 5k Run/Walk, a carnival, a climbing wall, a "top dog" pageant, a parade, kids activities, food plus much more. The Elmwood Fall Festival will take place on the square in downtown Elmwood beginning at 5 pm tonight (Thursday) & Friday and at 10 am on Saturday. Peoria Historical Society's River City Trolley Tour will wind along Grandview Drive every Friday in September beginning at 11 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights). Their "Naughty to Nice Tour" traces triumphs through time from the 1920's to the present featuring stories of the city's gangster era including driving by the site of Peoria's most notorious crime scene: The Bernie Shelton murder. Mary Todd Lincoln: The Springfield Experiment will be performed beginning at 7:30 pm on Friday & Saturday at Inspired Arts Academy (located at 137 S. Main in Morton). The world premiere of an original play by Peoria author Jack Mertes centers on the life of Mary Todd Lincoln, widow of assassinated President Abraham Lincoln and is based on true events. The Peoria Pride 2015 Expo, Pageant & Dance Party will take place at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday beginning at 4 pm.
