The Peoria Jaycees will host their annual Pancake Breakfast to support The Center for Prevention of Abuse at the First Federated Church Life Together Center (located at the corners of War Memorial and Sheridan) on Saturday from 8 - 11 am. You can choose from original, cinnamon or chocolate chip pancakes with sausage, juice and coffee. Cost is $5 a plate or $8 for all you can eat. Proceeds will benefit the Center for Prevention of Abuse.
The Holy Family School Holiday Fair will be held in the school gymnasium (located at 3720 N. Sterling Ave. in Peoria) on Saturday from 8 am - 2 pm. Civil War Winter Quarters will take place at at Sommer Park (located at 5329 North Koerner Road in Edwards) on Saturday from 10 am - 4 pm and on Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm. Admission is $5 per vehicle. Civil War soldier re-enactors will construct winter quarters and prepare for their winter encampment. Living historians in authentic uniforms will use period tools and construction methods to build handmade wooden shelters to protect themselves from the approaching winter weather. The Junior League of Peoria will host Superhero Saturday at Green Ford (located at 2211 W Pioneer Pkwy. in Peoria) on Saturday with two sessions: one from 9:30 - 11:00 am and the second from 1 - 2:30 pm. The event focuses on superhero training with an emphasis on hand eye coordination, an agility obstacle course, self defense and brain power and each participant will leave a certified superhero. The Peoria Train Fair will take place on the Illinois Central College East Peoria campus on Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm. Sponsored by the Illinois Valley Model Railroad Club in Peoria and Pekin's River City Model Railroad Club, admission is $3 for adults and kids 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. DVDs, videos, books, and photos as well as many model railroad parts and supplies will be available.
