Winterfest, Peoria's Newest Holiday Tradition, features ice skating outside tonight (Thursday) from 5 - 10 pm, on Saturday from Noon - 11 pm and Sunday from Noon - 10 pm on the corner of Fulton St. and Jefferson Ave. in downtown Peoria. Admission is $10 with skate rental, $8 with your own skates, $5 for children 3 and under or $65 for a season pass. For full details including special promotions, visit www.pncwinterfest.com
Folepi's Winter Wonderland continues through New Year's Eve at the VFW Post 2078 Park off Springfield Road (located at 123 Par 3 Lane in East Peoria). The drive-through electric park is the Festival of Lights' signature event featuring the majority of the Parade of Lights floats and many other lighted displays. Hours are 5 - 9 pm Sundays through Thursdays and 5 - 11 pm on Fridays & Saturdays through December 31st. Cost is $10 for all vehicles excepts full size buses, which are $150. The Kwanzaa Display at Luthy Botanical Garden (located at 2520 N Prospect Rd. in Peoria) opens on Saturday and features a display of African plants throughout the Holiday Poinsettia Show. Learn the significance of Mishumaa Saba and Zawadi. Hours are 10 am - 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday, 12 - 5 pm on Sundays and closed on Mondays. Conservatory admission will be waived during the holidays, however donations are accepted.
Holiday Boredom Busters will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Saturday as well as Monday through Thursday & Saturday next week from 1 - 2 pm. Add a little extra science and a lot more fun to your winter break with demonstrations of sensory chemistry experiments plus instructions for you to recreate the fun at home. Admission is free to members and with general admission, which is $11 for adults, $10 for seniors citizens 60+ or $9 for youth 3-17 plus Peoria county residents receive a 15% discount. Mitch Williams will perform table-side close up magic at the New Amsterdam Bar & Restaurant on the Peoria riverfront (located at 120 Southwest Water Street) on Fridays and Saturdays through December from 6 - 8:30 pm and is free for customers. For more information, visit www.mitchwilliamsmagic.com

Drop-in Drawing will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Sunday from Noon - 5 pm. Learn the way the masters did and draw inspiration from original works of art sketching a piece or two to take home with you. All ages and skill levels are welcome to check out a kit (folding stool, sketching paper, a clipboard, and a pencil) from the front desk, or bring your own sketchbook: pencils only please. There is no cost to borrow supplies and all ages are invited, however ages 16 and under require an adult in attendance. Admission is free for members and with general admission, which is $11 for adults, $10 for seniors citizens 60+ or $9 for youth 3-17 plus Peoria county residents receive a 15% discount.
