The 2016 Steamboat Days Festival will take place on the Peoria Riverfront beginning tonight (Thursday) & Friday at 4:30 pm and Saturday at 7 am. Featuring the internationally renowned Steamboat Classic race, a carnival, live music, food and a bags tournament, admission is free on Thursday and carnival wristbands good for unlimited rides are $20 on Saturday from 11 am - 3 pm. Their "Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War Tour" tells the story of Lincoln's visits to Peoria, the Civil War troops and Camp Peoria & Camp Lyon where they trained. Visit Springdale Cemetery and see the final resting place of Civil War veterans. Drive by the GAR Hall, built in 1909, and hear the story of Joseph Greenhut, one of the Whiskey Barons who provided funding for the Hall.
