Holy Family Heritage Days will be held in the Holy Family Parking lot (located at the corners of Sterling Ave. and Gale Ave. in Peoria) from 4 - 10 pm tonight (Thursday), Friday and from 10 am - 11 pm on Saturday. The Peoria Historical Society's Grandview Drive & Springdale Cemetery Tour winds along Grandview Drive taking place every Friday in June beginning at 11 am leaving from Harp & Thistle (located at 4605 N Prospect Road in Peoria Heights).
Their "Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War Tour" tells the story of Lincoln's visits to Peoria, the Civil War troops and Camp Peoria & Camp Lyon where they trained. Visit Springdale Cemetery and see the final resting place of Civil War veterans. Drive by the GAR Hall, built in 1909, and hear the story of Joseph Greenhut, one of the Whiskey Barons who provided funding for the Hall.
