The 2016 Illinois Shakespeare Festival continues at Ewing Manor (located at 617 E. Emerson in Bloomington). The shows include Hamlet, Twelfth Night and Peter and the Starcatcher with performances at 7:30 pm Tuesdays - Thursdays and Sundays and at 8 pm on Fridays & Saturdays through August 13. The Illinois Art League All Members Exhibit will be on display at the Peoria Public Library Main Library in downtown Peoria through Saturday, July 30. Members of the League share their work in a wide variety of subjects and media with the public during this all member show.  An art sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30, from 9 am - 4 pm with a portion of the proceeds going to support the Friends of Peoria Public Library. The Peoria Area World Affairs Council will present After Nazi and Soviet Occupation: Eastern Germany, Czech Republic and Poland Today at the Lariat Steakhouse (located at 2232 W Glen Ave. in Peoria) tonight (Thursday) beginning at 5:15 pm with a meal or 7 pm for the lecture only. The Peoria Historical Society's "Naughty to Nice Tour" will run every Friday in July beginning at 11 am tracing triumphs through time from the 1920's to the present.  It entails stories of the city's gangster era, including driving by the site of Peoria's most notorious crime scene: the Bernie Shelton murder. Their "River City Tour" winds along Grandview Drive takes place every Saturday in July beginning at 11 am.  And their "Roll Out the Barrel Tour" takes you through the earliest sections of downtown Peoria and into the Warehouse District where you'll discover historical facts about distilling in Peoria every Saturday in July beginning at 1:30 pm.  All tours start & end at the Peoria Riverfront Museum in downtown Peoria. The Central Illinois BBQ Throwdown will be held at Festival Park on the Peoria Riverfront beginning at 5 pm on Friday and 10 am on Saturday. The Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event, formerly held in Morton, will include the BBQ competition, a backyard BBQ throwdown where spectators will be able to help judge, a people's choice tasting, a craft and vendor fair, a pie baking competition, kid's activities, a bags tournament and live entertainment. Admission is $7 on Friday or free for kids under 16 with an adult and $2 on Saturday until 2 pm when it will be $7 or free for kids under 16 with an adult. The "I've Decided to Ride" bicycling event will take place at Donovan Park (located at 5805 N Knoxville Ave. in Peoria) on Saturday beginning at 7 am. The goal is to enable beginner to intermediate riders to attempt a longer ride, assisted by more experienced cyclists. A Peoria State Hospital History Tour will take place beginning at 6 pm on Saturday at the Pollak Hospital, the former tuberculosis ward of Peoria State Hospital (located at 4500 Enterprise Dr. in Bartonville) beginning at 6 pm. Starting with a historical slideshow presentation, take a of the cemeteries (weather permitting,) historical scenes with costumed actors, a tour of the Pollak Hospital, a trip to the Peoria State Hospital Museum (located just down the road at PSH's firehouse) and after a brief intermission, guests may return to the Pollak for an optional 2 hour paranormal investigation.
