Saturday Night Fever opens at Eastlight Theatre (located within the East Peoria High School Auditorium) on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and at 2 pm on Sunday. Based upon the popular movie from the 70's, Saturday Night Fever includes disco dancing and music originally recorded by the Bee Gees and stars Todd Michael Cook, who is originally from the Peoria area and now lives and performs in New York City. The Peoria Historical Society brings Peoria history to life with it's various Bus Tours that run throughout the summer including the the River City Tour, Roll Out the Barrel Tour, Abraham Lincoln and The Civil War Tour, Naughty to Nice Tour, Grandview Drive and Springdale Cemetery Tour and the Haunted Peoria Tour (in October only). The Reach for the Stars Dinner and Lecture with former NASA astronaut Capt. Scott Douglas "Scooter" Altman will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Friday beginning at 5:30 pm. Altman, a veteran of four Space Shuttle missions, a Central Illinois native and a University of Illinois alumnus will be on hand will share his experiences as a NASA pilot and commander on the space shuttles Columbia and Atlantis and his spaceflights.
