The 2018 City of Peoria Online
Budget Challenge will feature public budget discussions with an overview of the budget and online tool as well as the opportunity to talk to department heads. A special meeting will take place tonight (Thursday) at the Peoria Public Library North Branch (located at 3001 West Grand Parkway in Peoria) beginning at 6 pm. Additional meetings will also be held on over the next couple of weeks. The City has also released an interactive tool that invites residents to experience the types
of policy choices involved in balancing the city's budget. The city faces a $7.9 million budget deficit for 2018 and residents are encouraged to take the challenge and provide their thoughts and feedback. Participants begin with the current deficit amount, which will increase or decrease depending on their spending choice. The goal is to balance the budget by best allocating dollars across city services. The Budget Challenge may be taken online at http://peoria.budgetchallenge.org now through September 20th. |
