The 2018 City of Peoria Online
Budget Challenge will feature public budget discussions with an overview of the budget and online tool as well as the opportunity to talk to department heads. A special meeting will take place tonight (Thursday) at the Peoria Public Library North Branch (located at 3001 West Grand Parkway in Peoria) beginning at 6 pm. Additional meetings will also be held on over the next couple of weeks. The City has also released an interactive tool that invites residents to experience the types
of policy choices involved in balancing the city's budget. The city faces a $7.9 million budget deficit for 2018 and residents are encouraged to take the challenge and provide their thoughts and feedback. Participants begin with the current deficit amount, which will increase or decrease depending on their spending choice. The goal is to balance the budget by best allocating dollars across city services. The Budget Challenge may be taken online at 
The Peoria Chiefs will take on the

Peoria Historical Society's
River City Tour winds along Grandview Drive on Friday beginning at 11 am. Their Monuments and Landmarks Tour features sculptures and structures in both downtown and the north side of Peoria taking place on Saturday at 11 am. And their Haunted Peoria Tour features the stories behind the ghostly appearances that have startled and puzzled Peorians through the years on Saturday beginning at 1:30 pm. A Fundraiser benefiting Sterling
Middle PTO will take place on Friday at Chipotle Restaurant (located at 4512 N. Sterling Avenue in Peoria) from 4 - 9 pm. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Sterling Middle PTO when you mention the fundraiser.
The CIAO First
Fridays Artists' Tour will take place on Friday from 5 - 9 pm at various locations including the Contemporary Art Center, Studios on Sheridan and the Prairie Center of the Arts plus other locations where visitors can view artist demonstrations as well as purchase pieces. Annual Peoria Blues Heritage Music Festival will take place at Festival Park and CEFCU Center Stage at The Landing beginning at 6:30 pm on Friday and at 1 pm on Saturday. Concert in the

The 2017 Labor Day
Parade with over 100 entries of various trade unions will begin at 10 am starting in front of the Fire Station on Monroe Street ending at the Peoria County Courthouse.
