Mamma Mia the musical will be presented at Peoria Players Theatre (located at 4300 N University St. in Peoria) Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. All originally scheduled performances are sold out, but two additional ones have been added: Sunday, May 6 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, May 12 at 2:30 pm. The Gerald M. Brookhart Arts in Education Spring Celebration continues with student performances at the Peoria Courthouse Plaza (located at 324 Main St. in downtown Peoria) Monday - Friday through May 18 from 11 am - 1:30 pm. Showcasing fine arts and applied arts programs of over 100 schools in seven counties including Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Fulton, Henry and McLean, over 12,000 students and 400 teachers participate in over 250 performances. The Annual Brats for the Cure event will take place at Schnucks on University St. in Peoria featuring the Johnsonville Brats Truck from 11 am - 6 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 11 am - 2 pm (or until brats are sold out) on Sunday. The Celebrate Illinois: Learn it! Try it! Street Party will take place outside the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Washington Street on Sunday from 1 - 4 pm. Visitors will be able to try out a jackhammer, survey equipment, virtual reality goggles plus other tools of the trade as well as using materials to hammer, bend and form sheet metal into various shapes, lay bricks and more. Operating Engineers Local 649 will be run a mobile training unit with special heavy equipment experience where visitors can learn to operate actual contraction equipment and talk to current operating engineer apprentices.
