Two downtown Peoria summer favorites are opening for the season on Saturday, May 19: the 2018 Sculpture Walk Peoria and the Peoria Riverfront Market. The Riverfront Farmer's Market opens on the Peoria Riverfront and will run every Saturday morning through September 29 from 8 am - Noon (located in the 200 Block of Water Street directly across from the Peoria Riverfront Museum) featuring local produce, meats, cheeses, breads, flowers, plus local art, live music, and demonstrations each week. And Sculpture Walk Peoria 2018's Opening Day Celebration will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum's Sun Plaza kicking off with a Ribbon Cutting at 10 am and continuing until 1 pm, the event will include free docent led tours, arts activities, live music, kona ice and more.

The Peoria Chiefs will take on Clinton tonight (Thursday) at 6:30 pm and Kane County at 6:30 pm on Friday & Saturday and at 2 pm on Sunday all at Dozer Stadium. Spring Fling 2018 will take place on the Peoria Riverfront beginning at 6 pm tonight (Thursday) & Friday. The Gerald M. Brookhart Arts in Education Spring Celebration winds up on Friday for the season with student performances at the Peoria Courthouse Plaza (located at 324 Main St. in downtown Peoria) from 11 am - 1:30 pm. Showcasing fine arts and applied arts programs of over 100 schools in seven counties including Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Fulton, Henry and McLean, over 12,000 students and 400 teachers participate in over 250 performances. Enjoy bands, orchestras, choir, drama, dance, and speech plus art exhibits and demonstrations that feature painting, drawing, collage, ceramics, metal works, fiber arts, weaving, photography, woodworking, drafting, horticulture, agriculture, consumer science, food, and clothing. The 9th Annual Camp Big Sky Fishing Tournament will take place at Giant Goose Ranch (located just west of Canton on Route 9) on Saturday beginning at 8:30 am. The fundraiser pairs children and adults with disabilities with tournament fishermen for a three-hour Bass Masters-style competition. Featuring free, family-friendly activities such as bank fishing, boat rides, arts and crafts and lawn games, admission is free. The Parade of Boats and Awards Ceremony starts at 11:30 am.
