A
Veterans Art Exhibit will be on display through January 30th at the Peoria Public Library in downtown Peoria daily from 9 am - 6 pm. View a wide range of artistic expression, all created by area veterans. Some were artists before they served, while others are using art to understand their military experience. Organized by 22VA, a group of veteran artists who help other veterans express themselves through visual and creative arts. Their goal is to reduce the number of veteran
suicides which claim the lives of 22 veterans a day - more than double the rate for the civilian population. Admission is free. For more information, click

CIAO First Fridays Artists' Tour will take place on Friday from 5 - 9 pm at various locations including the Contemporary Art Center, Studios on Sheridan and the Prairie Center of the Arts where visitors can view artist demonstrations as well as purchase pieces. A Backyard Maple
Syrup Making Workshop will take place at Camp Wokanda (located at 620 E Boy Scout Rd. in Chillicothe) on Saturday from 10 - 11:30 am. Learn how you can make maple syrup in your own backyard with as little as one tree with techniques for setup and tapping, sap collection and storage, boiling and finishing. Feather Frenzy
will take place at Wildlife Prairie Park (located at 3826 N Taylor Rd. in Hanna City) on Saturday from 10 am- 3 pm. Audition Workshop for the upcoming production of Madagascar Jr. by Nitsch Theatre Arts will take place at the Eureka College Theatre (located at 300 E College Ave. in Eureka) on Saturday from 11 am - Noon. Recommended for those planning on auditioning for a solo singing role in the production, you'll get a sneak peak of the audition music and dance routine. Maker Workshop: PlayHouse Express will take place at the Peoria Playhouse Children's Museum (located within Glen Oak Park) on Saturday from 2 - 4 pm. Featuring a build your own train project, kids & families will work together to design and create axles, cars and more with lumber and other materials. Space Family Night:
Pluto & Beyond the Infinite will take place at the Riverfront Museum Dome Planetarium on Saturday from 6 - 7:30 pm. Pluto is the most distant object ever explored up-close with a spacecraft and NASA's New Horizons spacecraft broke its own record recently when it zipped past Ultima Thule, a small Kuiper Belt Object a billion miles beyond Pluto. Learn about the dwarf planet, watch as liquid nitrogen is frozen to produce the frozen nitrogen found on Pluto's surface and see the
