A Veterans Art Exhibit continues through January 30th at the Peoria Public Library in downtown Peoria daily from 9 am - 6 pm. View a wide range of artistic expression, all created by area veterans. Some were artists before they served, while others are using art to understand their military experience. Organized by 22VA, a group of veteran artists who help other veterans express themselves through visual and creative arts. Their goal is to reduce the number of veteran suicides which claim the lives of 22 veterans a day - more than double the rate for the civilian population. Admission is free. HopScotch 2019 will take place at the Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum (located at 2218 N Prospect Road in Peoria) tonight (Thursday) from 6 - 9 pm. Featuring signature cocktails and craft beers from local vendors and brewers, a live auction and music provided by Projekts. Tickets are $75 per person or $100 for VIP tickets and include unlimited beverages and heavy hors d'oeuvres. Peoria Academy's Annual Multicultural Night will take place at the school (located at 2711 W. Willow Knolls in Peoria) on Friday from 5:30 - 8 pm. At Eternity's Gate will be presented at the Giant Screen Theatre in the Peoria Riverfront Museum at 6 pm on Friday & Saturday and at 4 pm on Sunday. The critically acclaimed biographical drama film about the final years of painter Vincent van Gogh's life, it stars Academy Award-nominee Willem Dafoe. The Illinois High School Ten-Minute Play Festival will take place at Eureka College's Pritchard Theatre (located at 300 College Avenue in Eureka) at 7:30 pm on Friday & Saturday. FamilyCore's Frosty 5K and Dog Walk will take place at the Gateway Building (located at 200 NE Water St. in downtown Peoria) on Saturday beginning at 9 am for runners and 9:05 am for walkers and dog walkers with an awards ceremony at the conclusion. The Illinois Music Educators Conference (IMEC) All-State and Honors Concerts will take place at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday at 1 pm and 3:30 pm. Both concerts feature orchestra and choral performances. The All-State Elementary Concert will take place in Room 400 beginning at Noon. The Peoria Historical Society Trivia Night will take place at the Contemporary Art Center (located at 305 Water St. in downtown Peoria) on Saturday beginning at 6 pm. Featuring trivia entirely about Peoria - past and present - mulligans (free answers) will be available along with a Wine Pull. Tickets are $25 each or $200 for a team of eight. Winterfest will be held at the Lindenhof (located at 7601 N Harker Dr. in Peoria) on Sunday from Noon - 6 pm. Featuring a German buffet including smoked pork loin, Schnitzel vom Schwein, parmesan chicken, frikadellen (German meatballs), German potatoe salad, mashed potatoes & gravy green beans, spaetzle, sauerkraut and and mixed vegetables casserole, bread and salad plus hot chocolate or coffee for $12 for adults, kids 6-10 are $6. Kids 5 and under are free and are encouraged to come in costume. Dessert is $2. Live entertainment will be provided by the Terry Bredenburg and Bob and Judy on the accordion. Hot mugs of glühwein (hot spiced wine), bock and doppelbock beers in addition to the normal beer options will be available for purchase also.
