American Decoy: The Invention continues at the Riverfront Museum through April 28. Featuring iconic decoys by famous American artists, many of whom lived in central Illinois along the Illinois River, including Charles H. Perdew (Henry), Charles Schoenheider Sr. (Peoria) and Robert Elliston (Bureau), it is a nationally significant art exhibition celebrating the uniquely American art form with decoys from the museum's permanent collection. Medical Inventions That Changed the World continues at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. Featuring the stories of pioneers in medicine - from the use of radiation to the invention of mass production of penicillin which was invented in the early 1940s at Peoria's Ag Lab plus recent breakthroughs in virtual technologies and simulation - that have saved lives, cured diseases and made life better for billions of people worldwide, this first-of-its-kind exhibition runs through April 28. Qatar: Kingdom of Contrasts will be presented at Westlake Hall, on the Bradley University campus tonight (Thursday) beginning with dinner at 5:30 pm and the presentation at 7 pm. Focusing on Qatar and its impact on American foreign policy in the Middle East, speakers inlcude Dr. Janice Jayes, a professor of Middle East history at Illinois State University, will join Don Samford, a recent guest of the government of Qatar and a national World Affairs Councils leader along with Julia Ghantous, a former Qatar resident.  The presentation will focus on the country's strategic importance, its enormous wealth and its application of Sharia law. Hosted by the Peoria Area World Affairs Council, admission is free for the discussion, $30 for PAWAC members and students or $35 for the public for the dinner. What is the Future of Medicine? will take place at t the Peoria Riverfront Museum beginning at 6 pm. The Heidi White Memorial Concert will take place at Grace Church (located at 1325 E Jefferson St. in Morton) on Saturday beginning at 6 pm. Proceeds will be donated to the Heidi White Scholarship Fund and the Heidi White Memorial Music Endowment Fund at the Morton Community Foundation. Mrs. White taught music in the Morton School District and passed away in 2004 at the age of 27 after complications from childbirth. Her life is celebrated each spring through this memorial concert.
