Encore 2019 featuring the Morton Civic Chorus continues tonight (Thursday) through Saturday at 7:30 pm and on Sunday at 2 pm at the Hartmann Center Theater on the Bradley University Campus. Under the direction of Denise Adams, all proceeds benefit the Central Illinois Memorial Kidney Fund (CIMKF), supporting kidney dialysis patients in the tri-county area. The "Art of the Brick" opens at the Peoria Riverfront Museum on Saturday and runs through September 2. Featuring intriguing works of art made exclusively LEGO® bricks, this critically acclaimed collection of creative and inspiring pieces constructed using only LEGO bricks is created by renowned contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya. The world's most elaborate display of LEGO brick art, the exhibit features more than 100 pieces of artwork with original pieces as well as re-imagined versions of some of the world's most famous masterpieces such as van Gogh's "Starry Night" and da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" as well as a gallery showcasing an innovative, multimedia collection of LEGO brick-infused photography produced in tandem with award-winning photographer Dean West. Admission to all exhibitions, galleries and public planetarium shows is $18 for adults, $17 for senior citizens aged 60+ and students with ID and $16 for youth ages 3 - 17. The City of Peoria Public Works will host an Open House (located at 3505 N. Dries Lane in Peoria) tonight (Thursday) from 4 - 7 pm. Residents can see what goes on behind the scenes in the daily activities of maintaining Peoria's infrastructure with staff members on hand to answer questions and explain what Public Works does. A variety of vehicles and heavy equipment including snow plows and the paint striping truck will be on display. Honoring National Public Works Week, admission is free. The 2019 Summer Camp Music Festival will be held at Three Sisters Park (located at 17201 N State Route 29 in Chillicothe) opening tonight (Thursday) with a pre-party and running through Sunday evening. The 5th Annual Memorial Day Springdale Salute 5K Run/1 Mile Walk will be held at lower Glen Oak Park on Monday beginning at 7:45 am taking runners through Springdale Cemetery passing Soldiers Hill. The entry fee is $30 for adults and $15 for kids for the 5k Run/Walk or $35 for adults on race weekend with a $5 discount for veterans, $20 for adults and $15 for kids for the 1 Mile Walk with all proceeds used to make home repairs for veterans in the Tri-County area.
