Back to the 80's continues at Peoria Players Theatre (located at 300 N University St in Peoria) tonight (Thursday) through Saturday at 7:30 and on Sunday at 2 pm. From the era that brought the world the Rubik's Cube, Max Headroom and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes this "totally awesome" musical in the style of movies such as Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Karate Kid, it's a nostalgic romp through the greatest hits of the decade. Disney's Newsies continues at Eastlight Theatre (located at 2200 E Washington St. in East Peoria) tonight (Thursday) through Saturday at 7:30 pm. Winner of 3 Tony Awards, it's the tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. The Robber Bridegroom continues at Corn Stock Theatre Tent (located in upper Bradley Park) tonight (Thursday) through Saturday at 7:30 pm each night. Based upon a fairy tale, the story takes place in the late 1700's in Mississippi and features a live bluegrass band on stage accompanying the vocalists. The Illinois State Fair opened this morning (Thursday) on the Illinois State Fairgrounds and runs through Sunday, August 18 from 7 am - midnight each day. Admission today (Thursday) is $5 for adults and $2 for senior citizens aged 60+ and children 12 and under are free. Normal admission beginning on Friday is $10 for adults (ages 13 - 59), free for children up to 12 and $3 for senior citizens (ages 60+). Parking per day is $5.
