The Illinois State
Fair opened this morning (Thursday) on the Illinois State Fairgrounds and runs through Sunday, August 18 from 7 am - midnight each day. Admission today (Thursday) is $5 for adults and $2 for senior citizens aged 60+ and children 12 and under are free. Normal admission beginning on Friday is $10 for adults (ages 13 - 59), free for children up to 12 and $3 for senior citizens (ages 60+). Parking per day is $5. A Sightseeing Cruise
will take place on the Spirit of Peoria on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2 - 3:30 pm plus there's an early cruise on Saturday at 11 am. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for senior citizens, $11 for kids 4-15 and free for ages 3 & under and are available by calling 309-637-8000, at the dock or online at 
2nd Fridays in Peoria
Heights will take place at Exhibit A Gallery (located at 4607 N Prospect Rd. in Peoria Heights) from 4 - 8 pm on Friday. The River City Soul
Fest will take place at the Peoria Riverfront Friday and Saturday from 6 - 11:30 pm. Featuring artists Dru Hill and The Brian McKnight 4, admission is $25 for one day or $40 for Friday and Saturday. Rock The Farm
will be held at Mackinaw Valley Winery (located at 33633 State Route 9 in Mackinaw) on Friday from 6 - 11 pm. A benefit for Easter Seals, the event features live music by the Way Down Wanderers and Chicago Farmer. Beer, wine, soda and water will be available for purchase along with food from various vendors. Chairs and blankets are allowed, but no outside food or drink. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids aged 12 & under and are available at 
Live at the Five Spot with

Dinner & a Movie
featuring The Wizard of Oz will take place at the Riverfront Museum Giant Screen Theater on Friday beginning at 6 pm. Healthy Lives 4 Kids
Day will take place at the Greater Peoria Family YMCA (located at 7000 North Fleming Lane in Peoria) on Saturday from 10 am - Noon. Professionals from OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois will provide interactive games and activities the whole family can enjoy, including an obstacle course, a kid-friendly snack station, dancing and more promoting health and wellness in children. Each child will receive a wrist pedometer, water bottle, bedtime chart and lunch container plus

Brick, a stop motion animation workshop, will be held in the Illinois River Classroom at the Riverfront Museum on Saturday from 12:30 - 1:30 pm.
