Matilda the Musical will be presented by Peoria Players Theatre (located at 4300 N University St. in Peoria) Friday & Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Based on the 1988 children’s novel, the musical centers on a precocious young girl with the gift of telekinesis, who loves reading, overcomes obstacles caused by her family and school and helps her teacher to reclaim her life. Funny Money continues tonight (Thursday) at the Barn III Dinner Theatre in Goodfield and through Sunday. This comedy starts out when mild mannered Henry finds a briefcase full of money on the train and comes home to his wife with plans for a quick getaway. On Thursday, Friday & Saturday, doors open at 6 pm and on Sunday, doors open at 12:30 pm. Moon is now open at the Peoria Riverfront Museum and runs through Sunday. It features a one-of-a-kind 13-foot (4-meter) diameter illuminated moon made especially for the museum by UK artist Luke Jerram.  Admission to the museum is free for members or $11 for adults, $10 for senior citizens aged 60+ and students with ID or $9 for youth aged 3 - 17. Vantage Points: Contemporary Photography from the Whitney Museum of American Art is on display at the Peoria Riverfront Museum through Sunday. The first exhibition of its kind in the nation, it's a collaboration between the Peoria Riverfront Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art featuring photographs by 20 of the most influential artists of the 1970s through the 2000s, including Andy Warhol, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sally Mann, Diane Arbus, Gregory Crewdson, William Eggleston, Nan Goldin and Richard Avedon. Vesper Stamper, internationally-acclaimed author and illustrator, will make an appearance at the Illinois Prairie District Public Library Germantown Hills branch (located at at 509 Woodland Knolls Rd. in Germantown Hills) tonight (Thursday) from 5:30 - 7 pm. Author and illustrator of “What the Night Sings”, a novel about Holocaust survivors in the period after World War II, the library will give away copies of the book to the first 20 guests and the Stamper will be sign copies of her book following the presentation.
