A Raisin in the Sun will be presented by Peoria Players Theatre (located at 4300 N. University St. in Peoria) on Friday & Saturday at 7:30 pm and on Sunday at 2 pm. Directed by retired WEEK-TV news personality Garry Moore, the show was named the best play of 1959 by the New York Drama Critics' Circle. It follows a black family's experiences in south Chicago, as they attempt to improve their financial circumstances with an insurance payout following the death of the father. Love, Sex & The IRS continues at the Barn III Dinner Theatre in Goodfield tonight (Thursday) through Sunday. Da Vinci-The Genius, the most comprehensive exhibition of Leonardo Da Vinci's work, continues at the Peoria Riverfront Museum through March 22 bringing to life the genius of Da Vinci as an inventor, artist, scientist, anatomist, engineer, architect, sculptor and philosopher. Also on display are facsimiles of Da Vinci's most famous codices, anatomical studies, the Battle of Anghiari drawings and displays of his renaissance art in actual size along with the world's most accurate reproduction of the "Mona Lisa". Green Chemistry: The Missing Elements will be presented in the Peoria Riverfront Museum Giant Screen Theatre tonight (Thursday) beginning at 7 pm. Featuring John Warner, the Father of Green Chemistry, who will discuss the science that seeks to reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous materials at the design state of a materials process. The presentation will describe the history and background of Green Chemistry and discuss the opportunities for the next generation of materials designers to create a safer and more sustainable future. The 15th Annual Shorty’s Strickly Bluegrass Festival will take place at the Stoney Creek Inn (located at 101 Mariner’s Way in East Peoria) beginning tonight (Thursday) with a Gospel concert at 7 pm.
